Tons of threads for offroad tires or for aftermarket rims but I'm running stock 17" rims on my 16 Sport. Originally planned new rims and tires when OEM were worn but now I may get a 2020 Tundra.

So 265/65/17 no snow no offroading will be staying on pavement whats good? Was looking at Cooper Evolution and Kuhmo Crugens, prefer to keep it around $200ea.

If you're planning on trading it in, I'd go with a cheaper tire. Why spend the $$? Personally, I'd go with Michelins.

hacksawmark is correct. I have a 2WD with no intention of offroading.

Michelin defender LTX, best thing going for light street trucks. I went with a 255/70/17 ... just a little taller and a little narrower.

Not certain I'll get the Tundra yet still waiting on more details then decide 1st year model or wait for 2nd. I'll still be driving it for a few months atleast so I dont want to skimp to bad on the tires. I'll check out some of the Michelins.

I'll check those out for sure, how would you compare them with the OEM Toyo A30's?

I had the Firestone destination tires on it when I bought it. they were OK, I had some scalping on the outer edge of the front tires ... they were quite loud there at the end. Got an alignment after the Michelins were put on .... it ride nice now.

I was looking into highway all season replacements for my truck and researched the hell out of the Kumho Crugen ht51 which get very high ratings and they are basically a clone of the Michelin Defenders in looks and cost half the price, which would be the tire deal of the century if performance and longevity are on par with the Defenders, I even started a thread trying to get some input from Tacoma owners on them. some reviewers on Tirerack had the defenders before getting the Crugens and said they were equally on par with the performance as the Michelins? im still looking for additional input before I buy them. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/kumho-crugen-ht51-tire-reviews-needed.591028/

I've been on the stock Toyo A30 highway treads for 11,500 miles now and they've been excellent in the rain, on mud and dry pavement. I'm really impressed with them so far.

Them and Coopers still at the top of my list, Michelin's look good too $50 more each though can get either the Crugen or the Coopers for about $175ea mounted and balanced. Reviews on both are good wherever I've read them.

The stock A30's were alright for me, low noise, good ride, good on dry pavement, ok on wet as long as I control my lead foot. But they do wear out pretty fast.

wish there was more info on the CRUGENS performance and long term wear/performance, also knowing they are made in Vietnam doesn't make me feel 100% sure they are legit good quality tire.

Michelin Defenders. I know people that have run them to 80,000+ miles and significant increase in mpg

Yes can't give any long term reports yet put a bit over 1k miles on them so far, but so far so good, no road noise off them, they stick in the dry as well as the oem toyo's, in the wet.. i think i would score them lower then the toyo's, rear wants to come loose more often then when the toyos were newer but I have a heavy foot too. I'm in Houston so don't know how they do on ice or snow, upper 30's is about the coldest it got while I've had them.

thanks for the report on them, so the Toyos A30 were a better tire than these? I seen a set of those Crugens on a Nissan frontier the tread looks identical to the Michelin defender.

Other then wet conditions they've been equal to the toyo's so far, and if I try to drive like most other people do in the rain they aren't bad per say(my driving history is all sports cars and hatches and I still drive like i'm driving one of them) if they can make it to 50k I'd even rate them slightly higher then the toyo's over all I got 41k out of the toyo's.

im trying to decide whether to stick with the OEM rubber or get something else that could be better performing, I do like the Michelin defenders a lot I just don't want to invest the money into those tires if I can find a suitable equivalent to them. I mostly drive highway and want a long lasting tread which I have with the OEM Dunlops at 70k miles but they are thoroughly shot now.

Yeah I was in same boat, other then the lifespan of the toyo's had no complaints about them, they were ok in the rain and stuck to the pavement well in the dry. If these Krugens stay consistent and last 60k I'd say they were worth it.
