Run full width with a higher backspacing wheel. Especially on a second gen. Less scrub radius, more stability and it’s easier.

I’m also a big fan of non-selectable lockers. I’ve had a Detroit in the front of my truck and it just always works. The same cannot be said for when I had a rear ARB.

Why would you want to narrow them? Non-select is great, just like Slander said - you can wheel all day while you watch ARB fanbois fix their airline for the 13th time today.

I always hear that, yet those same people are usually jacking around with some component of those lockers.

Last time i jacked around with my lockers was the day i installed them. I ran them front and rear when i was ifs as well and never had an issue then either. ran one in the rear of my 94 with 0 problems my buddy has them in his sas'd ranger with 0 problems and another buddy is running an arb in his sas'd taco with 0 issues and i have yet to see a failure past an improperly routed air line getting burned open by exhaust.

Edit: i lied i did see MrTRD's front locker leaking air out of the diff but that's been doing that since he got it from ECGS so most likely a installation failure or a defective part in the locker which you will have from time to time.

There's a ton of posts lately with leaking ARB's... Sounds like ARB may have a bad run of seals.

Came out of a 2010, its in surprisingly good shape, I think the truck it was in had a cab fire and was totalled.

Yeah I found some YouTube videos where its looks like a bandsaw, cutting disc, hammer and chisel are the weapons of choice.

Nice. Yeah I used sawzall some but 5” cut off disc did most of the work. Chopping through the big thick cast I used a sawzall. cut off discs are cheaper, so they’re the way to go if you can.

Mine is from a 2012 drw. These things are fawkin beefy eh? Hahaha

Yep, sawzall with HF cheap metal blades makes pretty quick work of the big chunks.

Mine needs some more grinding on the housing to make it pretty. 7” flappy aught to cover that. This cast is tough though it’s not an easy grind

My Spartan locker install took all of 5mins and works 100% of the time, and has 4 failure modes and they are all inside the diff. Idiot proof check, works when I need it check, no extra systems check.

I will say I did have some separation anxiety when I got rid of the elocker when I did the axle swap, but now it's all good.

i ran a spool in the back for the first 2 years i was sas'd but it got dangerous side hilling in the snow. honestly i love Air lockers and don't mind the extra money and time so it's worth it to me. my opinion is air locker or spool i wouldnt waste my money on the inbetween because i have had problems breaking spartan and detroit lockers. i have a failed detroit locker on my bench right now.
