The bed slide I built is working ok but the plastic chains I used to limit how far it could slide out isn't working well. The chains fall behind the slide and then the slide won't go in all the way. Today I'm going to try some nylon rope instead of plastic chain. I wanted it to be simple and easily removed if needed, and set a budget of $100. I used 3M spray adhesive to glue Rhino super grip drawer/shelf liner to the non smooth side of a sheet of hard board . The shelf liner grips the plastic bed very well, and I wiped it down with Acetone first as it took 8 weeks to get the canopy. I spray glued a newer moving blanket to the bottom of the tray I built from 5/8 plywood, and painted the top of the tray with black undercoat. This allows me to have a tub in the bed now under the canopy with the items I previously had in my Honda Ridgeline trunk. I keep jumper cables, tow strap, tie downs & zip ties, 2 gallons of gas, towels, toilet paper, gloves, rope, snow chains, duct & electrical tape, and some basic tools. I am really liking the Tacoma and have taken it skiing on some very snowy days and it was awesome.

Did you try just the blanket on the plastic bed? Do you have any issue with the lip of tailgate?

No I didn't think about not using the hardboard, with just the weight of the one large tub & and all the stuff I have in it, it isn't super easy to pull out & push back in. The lip doesn't cause any issues. The bed slide like the Ridgeline trunk won't get used a lot, but when you need something you have easy access to it.
