Hey geniuses. It's called the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Act. Your sarcasm makes you look bad. Not even close to an intelligent comparison to compare arguing creature comforts, electric seat manipulation, transforming tailgates, or even drum brakes VS safety laws in the US.

My favorite Tacoma was my 99, 4cyl regular cab with MT, manual windows, locks, etc. Simple truck with no doodads. I'd love to have one as my fourth vehicle. Bullet proof, and got the job done.

The worst part of having a truck is that everyone thinks you will help them move. Rent a fucking U-Haul people! :)

You really miss manual windows and door locks? Scheesch!

We humans have evolved since then.

With two doors. Yes. Super simple, and the car wasn't wide to reach across to unlock. And I paid $16,200 for it new. Yeah, I miss that. That truck now has over 500k miles and the owner told me it is still going strong. Should have kept it.

But I am also a big fan of old Toyotas. I like trucks I actually have to drive. My FJ40 is a blast (obviously not for road trips, but it is my go to for short/day adventures).

I can totally see your preference for simplicity and manual everything even though that’s not my personal preference however 16200 in 1999 translates to 24,400 in today’s dollars. That’s pretty dang close to starting Tacoma prices so in reality you are paying the same as you would back in 1999 just with more power, features, and space.

Yeah, for a 4x2 and stuck with an auto (bad enough tied to the 3.5 V6). I'd prefer my old 2.7 4x4 setup with 5 speed manual for $24k in todays dollars over the auto a/c for $4.5k more.

Still Toyota has done a good job keeping prices decent and have added a lot of features.

I disagree - the Tacoma is out selling this "rounded: look bigly... Hence Ridgeline vs Tacoma sales

Not a really fair comparison for a couple of reasons. I did look into the Ridgeline first to see if it was something I could consider as I had just bought a Honda CR-V and was liking it a lot. But my heart has always been with Toyota, having owned or still own 11 of them. I was in the market for something basic. The only Ridgeline availability that the Honda dealers either had or could get, at least in my area, were ones fully loaded up.

And Honda doesn't have the following Toyota has in the market segment, nor the history of building solid trucks for decades.

By your logic, the Tundra, with its very small market segment, is not a good truck. Do you believe that?

Fine, just don't come back on here bitching and crying if the 4th Gen Tacoma ends up looking like a Ridgeline.

You know, progress and all that shit.

LOL - tundra is "roundish" looking vs Chevy and Ford - so no I am correct. Tundra gets crushed in sales by the boxier, more square looking trucks.

I was making reference to what you said about being 'rounded' being linked to sales.
We both know it's not getting "crushed" because it's a bit more rounder looking.

If the 4th come out looking like a Ridgeline then 2 things have happened:

    A. Toyota fell way out of touch with the US customer base
    B. Due to "A" Tacoma sales plummeted

The easy answer to all of the "options" on the truck is PROFIT the manufacturers can make more on an old platform (bof) and bring in more potential customers...it is just not that hard to understand and to this I do not ass/u/me
