This is coming up, need new bearings, ball joints, and tie rods to go with.

 

Prob pulling the rear diff Saturday and doing a health check on it. Been a year since I regeared and wanna check it out at the same time I weld the new Barnes rear plate on it.

I recommend checking out this thread. The non swaybar version tends to crack unfortunately. Adding a reinforcement from where the tie rod bolts into should help.

I've read threw it when it first got started. Welding the tie rod extension won't really prevent cracks. If you're riding hard enough, it's gonna crack regardless.

 

I have yet to see a report of the sway bar version cracking but tons of the non swaybar kind. YMMV and hopefully yours hold up well.

 

I thought about putting a gusset in, still undecided whether I will or not. Hell, may be a while before I get to swapping the spindles.

 

Just wanted to make sure you knew it was a potential issue and to keep a close eye on it, and maybe add an extra gusset as well. Sucks you just painted them though.

 

Acetone will wipe that paint right off
