looking at trading in my problem laden 2015 forester on a new tacoma. My old 1993 toyota pick has been a poster child for reliability. the Subaru will leave you stranded anywhere @ anytime for no reason whats so ever. You'd think that after 12 times same issue they would fix it or take it away...Anyway, any suggestions on the Tacoma..

Do it do it do it!! Ha

Do you need a long bed? 4wd? Manual transmission? Will you be off roading? Your needs may limit you to specific Tacoma models.

Sounds like your Subaru is a lemon. I’d get out of it into something else at the least.

Buy a Trd off-road with the premium & tech package this will have everything you could need with out paying TRD PRO prices. Wait until tomorrow to see what the 2020 tacoma has to offer. It will be unveiled tomorrow at Chicago Auto Show.

ok, this is sad...the "TV kid, all dressed up as a supposed cowboy..." Sad, cause I can REMEMBER the 1st time that was on TV.. we had an Antenna.. funny, 40 + yrs later & I went BACK to an antenna .. Lord I'm getting OLD. Maybe that's it, I need a ford model A truck, with the kick down transmission....

I won't stop you, but of course I'll tell you to buy a Tundra instead. I test drove a Tacoma in 2017 just to see how complaints on the forum measured out and I thought that the powertrain was fine.

Tacos aren't problem free by any means, however it's very rare to see someone left stranded (though it happens with any vehicle). The Subaru's on the other hand are funny to me. Have friends and family who have owned them for years and years with never a problem, and have friends who have had disaster experiences including transmission replacements <100k.

From what I've gathered from people I know, it seems 13-15 wasn't the best period for those guys. Then again 16-17 wasn't so great for the Tacos.

good news is we are now 4 model years into the 3rd gen and most of the major new model issues seem to have settled down. from this point the major issues you'd see surface would be a supplier issue and that can happen at any time

Do some homework... read through all the “issue” threads on here, we don’t need to have another pissed off new Tacoma owner bitching about transmission shift points, or lack of HP and TQ trolling around. Once you accept the known faults, then and only then go buy it! Like many others before me have said, I wasn’t disappointed in my Tacoma until I started reading this forum.:rofl::rofl:

Too cheap. Get back to the dealer for some add-ons. These are 40K trucks. ;)

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
2020 has electric seats as an option. Just sayin.

He would probably break down a dozen more times in the Subaru waiting till the end of the year to get a 2020.

The biggest problem is that it's a Subaru.
