DeAutoLED interior lights kit review

So i ordered the above interior light kit from DeAutoLED i had to pay via paypal which was annoying to begin with. The package was shipped via usps so of course i didnt get it for a week.

Upon opening it up there were 2 packets, the first labeled "Dome Lights" which had 5 bulbs that fit the map lights and one bulb that supposedly was for the center dome light. The other package labeled "Sun Visor/Glove Box" contained 5 visor bulbs and 1 that resembled the map light bulbs....

Ok so i only have 2 map lights only 4 visor lights and no glove box light that i know of or can find. After bloodying the shit out of my fingers replacing the visor and map bulbs and getting the dome light pulled appart, i come to find that the dome light bulb supplied doesnt physically fit the cage. (the stock one went back in no problem)

The kit came with zero instructions on how to install so upon trying to get it to work thinking theres got to be some juju im not performing to get it to fit, the bulb got mangled and ultimately broke as one of the connectors on the side came loose and fell off.

This kit is terrible. Of the 12 bulbs they sent me, i only have a need for 7, and the 7th bulb is clearly the wrong bulb as it is physically longer than the stock bulb its supposed to replace. I am feeling really ripped off right now having to buy twice as many bulbs as i needed and not even having the most important bulb fit. Some people say oh those are extra bulbs incase you need to replace them. Wtf do i need extra bulbs to reace bulbs that are supposed to be lifetime?

I also purchased their reverse light kit, but now im not so sure i even want to bother trying to install it with how this interior light install went.
EDIT: The reverse lights were actually very easy to install.

UPDATE: Refund was issued for incorrect dome bulb size. Hopefully there will be an update on the correct 29mm bulb size when it gets out of rnd.

 

Diode Dynamics. I know their dome bulb fits and I think I paid like $40 or $45 for every bulb I needed for the interior. I have had zero issues with any of the bulbs since I got them. Zero flicker and they fade out when turning off just like stock.

5 dome
4 sun visor
1 glove box

they do not charge you for any extra and only send them in case you break or lose one during install - just something extra.

If your car only needs 7 then you can email them to help as they are understanding to all situations. The 31mm is slightly larger but it does fit and what others have used.

The interior fade in/out without issue.
No diming
High CRI (so it doesn't look like a gas station lighting)

Dome on a 2018 is 29mm not 31mm. If your going to sell them you should at least know the appropriate size. And a 2018 is 1 dome, 2 maps, and 4 visor. No glovebox light at all.

 

While slightly larger they give off much more light than many 29mm on the market - simply angle and push up and they fit without issue. Many have this exact model installed and are very happy.

Yes 2018 is different it seems but he bought a kit that had more and working with team to help him last I have heard. It is a 10pc set:

So you know your bulb is too big but you sell it anyway and tell people just to angle it in and make it fit? Yea no thanks.

 

It does fit in the housing - I have installed them and why slightly longer (not by much) you simply angle in and push up and they have no problem and are much brighter than many 29mm. They should include a small write-up but could've missed it in the package.

Sorry to see that. But yes I promise that is same size I tried and it fit. Did you try to angle and push up? I can see if team can make it 29mm without losing the brightness but they sold many kits and many have that same 31mm size in the 29mm.

The team will help with discount due to less bulbs in the model required and it is less money than DD and probably brighter And they will send a new one to you also.

 

@NEPAChuy has the interior. Can you confirm you have 29mm and had the 31mm work?

 

yes I set the point into the hole on the passenger side, and then tried to slide it into the hole in the spring on the drivers side. I had a pair of needle nose pliers with soft tips on them so I had good control and grip of the bulb. The stock bulb had zero issues going in and out easily.

The tip of the bulb bent and the contact broke off before it would slide into place in the spring.

 

Doesn't look cheaper then DD according to your website and you refuse to put any specs on your webpage so no way to know if it is brighter or not.

 

Ok - that is what I normally do and didn't see the same issue so let me discuss with the team if they can make a 29mm without losing the brightness.

If they turned the current diode configuration 90° they would probably have no problem with 29mm. There seems to be plenty of room in the socket.

 

Great suggestion. They would have to get them manufactured to same specs but smaller. I will post any updates from them.

Yes I am using the same size bulb. I agree with [OP] that the bulbs are too big by 2 mm, but they still fit in the housing. The retention terminal (springy terminal on the left side) just has to be bent a bit before inserting the bulb. I can see why buyers would find this frustrating to deal with. It takes a bit of force to bend.

 

I got the DeAutoLED kit a few months back and did at first think it was too big, but after a quick eyeballing and the right angle have had no problems with it at all. I definitely wasn't mad that they sent extras, in the event that one goes out.

 

Yes, me asking about others installing these LEDs is not to downplay his concern as it is valid and the team is helping solve this issue because customer's have to be 100% happy when they shop with us.

But yes while the LED is longer it is only 1/16th of an inch longer than the 29mm bulb. This was done due to it being so much brighter and what many wanted. It was tested prior and there was no issue with getting the bulb installed but it did require a bit more pressure to get the bulb to seat.

I honestly never noticed as I simple pressed firmly and it always fit. It was tested and people had no issue so they stuck with the brighter 31mm if people are wondering why they went with this size vs the 29mm. The 29mm bulb is small but ours are very bright.

They told me they have not had an email until now about fitment of this bulb or missed the email. I am not sure if you brought it to their attention?
