209 TACOS - B/S and shenanigans

If the corners are round we might lose area for the swingout. It all comes down to what you want.

 

I'm doing a bit more research. It looks like rear bumpers like Trail Gear's universal rear (builder) bumper are 3/16 wall. If I went to a 3/16 3x5 foundation it would save cost (AND weight). The 1/4 3x5 bare bumper would be something like 65 pounds alone. 3/16 is some pretty damn stout material. I think 1/4 for the entire bumper is overkill.

As far as the DOM. I may see if they can get just 10ft instead of the 20ft... not sure why he quoted me for 20ft of DOM, unless that's the only length he can get it in.

 

Anybody know where I can get some more wheels like this or know who makes them? Cant see any company name or logo anywhere on them. I'm looking to get a few more so I can have matching wheels/tires for truck and camp trailer

So, here's the updated quote on materials for the rear bumper and swing out.


That will be considerably lighter and with the right re-inforcement and gusseting, I think it will be good to go.

Thinking about holding off on the DOM though. They don't deal with DOM often so they can only sell 20 ft sticks or the price goes up per foot. Only need about 10 ft... But 10 ft would cost near the same as 20 ft.


Anyone know where I can source DOM cheaper than this?

Spotted a badass black 1st gen xcab, SAS, like 37s+ here in merced then right after a nice tan 2nd gen, light bar, sliders, front bumper (iirc), lifted. Just got a new back window judging by the blue painter's tape around the edges.


Didnt get a pic of the 1st gen. Also saw this 2nd gen, cant figure out what's up with the hitch. Some kind of bump stop thing for backing into the garage maybe?

 

Headed to Lodi either Saturday or Sunday...does that count?

All of the U-joints (except Cardin joint) have been replaced. New Carrier Bearing set, torqued and staked.

Need to pick up the nuts, bolts, and washers (to attach Cardin to flange) from the dealer tomorrow. The order came in today.
