I need to tweak this thing. Not cutting 100% straight. Then again I have to mount it properly.

That link posted was good info.

If you must do it though you can do it pretty safely if its grinded off the best you can. There will be the bad gas given off but in a much smaller amount. If its a simple thing to weld pick up a cheap respirator and chemical fume cartridges. Stand upwind and out of the smoke as best you can.

Id still avoid it if at all possible though

I don't understand the miter gauge? I see no way you can get a precise cut with that gauge. I think its more as a marketing gimmick. The saw will cut just fine freehand.

back to the days with just a arrow with the word up

Even though most of my machines are digital I seldom look at them set up from sound and sight

I am pretty sure all the current Miller Mig line is inverter based till you get to some of the 3 phase units

Inverters are here the downside is so very expensive to repair out of warranty

I know what your saying .

I get so many who insist the machine is broken it welded just fine with these settings yesterday or however long it took to get there .

do the prepower checks all is good power it up fine tune the voltage the wire speed it works just fine seems to happen where the shop foreman can`t weld. Sometimes I feel Bad for having to bill them $ 300.00 or better

Seems to happen more during Heat waves and really Cold snaps

Any issues with it running at 850 RPM vs something closer to 500?

Nope. Having the handle on the side makes it easy to hold on to in my opinion. I use Tap Magic cutting oil for every cut and use Lennox hole saws. Cuts easily

Nice. That's definitely less expensive than what I was looking at. My biggest issue was really just overheating batteries and my only corded drill runs at 2500 rpm. Way too fast for steel. This should work great.

Why would anyone doing metal fab buy a 3/8 chuck?

Side note. I'm sure it's been covered.

But what's everyone's favorite custom / modified tool or fixture? As fabricators, we all have them . Figured it'd be an interesting topic. Maybe throw some pics in. Could also include your favorite tool on the side as well

These are my favorite fab squares. I use them for wood working as well as metal fabrication.

I need to make some more, I keep giving them away.
