I would love to but I don't currently have a yard where I live... that's really the only thing holding me back from getting a dog.

I hear ya.. Definitely a lot easier with one.

The boxer i posted yesterday, that was my old dog, had her as a puppy, but left her with the ex when i decided to travel the world. And continuing spontaneous travel has held me back from getting another unfortunately.

Anyone here running CVJ axles? I like the concept of new OEM boots and OEM rebuilt axles from a quality perspective and the cost is well below a new OEM axle. RSG recommended I get a NAPA axle that's a hair cheaper but I'm unsure about the quality of the axle (past just the boots). Tips/experience?

Everything I have heard (mostly 1st gen users) is that Sure, the lifetime warranty from NAPA/O'Reilly/etc is nice, but do you really want to have to deal with popping in and out CV's every few months if they are junk? I plan on pulling out my OEM (204k) CVs are using the OEM reboot kit soon in order to keep them from getting damaged and having to buy a full new set.

That's my thinking too which is why I'm leaning toward CVJ's for sure due to the OEM everything. Mine just gave out at 192k but I think the joint is bad too (loud pop/cracking sound since I noticed it first yesterday) so I'll just be swapping out to a whole new unit.

Yeah CVJ/OEM installed on the truck and NAPA/Autozone/whatever as trail spares is what I do.

One of my boots was a bit loose and allowing grease to escape and fling around. The boots are showing signs of being dried up, but no cracks yet (OME "two" inch lift + diff drop), so I cut off the clamp and put on high quality worm drive clamps that have rolled (non-sharp) edges. No more grease escaping for now and I have enough of these worm drive clamps to replace all of the original band clamps and have more than a full set of spares.

That's what I've always thought too. My current axles are the original OEM ones and I have a cheap O'Reilly one I carry as a spare in case I need it to get off a trail. I think CVJ will be my best bang for the buck.

I've had CVJs for serveral years with zero complaints. I got the silicone inner boots, and regular outers. Those are cracking now after three years. I would probably go with the silicone or OEM outers if I were to do it again.

I would not trust a new parts store axle if you wheel. ask @Bumpr1080 :D

Don't blame you, it can be a PITA. I got Molly when I lived in an apartment and meant morning/evening walks and lots of play time at the park.

I just went ahead and ordered a pair that use the OEM boots on both ends. The silicone is definitely a good concept but I've heard complaints of them not holding up and the OEM boots have lasted 13 years and 192k (30k lifted but the leak is near the clamp) so I figure if it ain't broke (conceptually) don't fix it!

The oem axles I bought from a used auto parts place arrived yesterday. They are only supposed to have 40k miles on them and they look like crap. One of the boots is leaking. I contacted the place and they said they will make it right. Paid $200 shipped for the pair.

Howdy all. My wife and I are coming to CO in March to visit family and do some wheeling. Two family members in CO Springs have Jeeps and we are planning a wheeling trip together. They mentioned Hackett Gulch, Longwater Gulch and Mayberry Gulch. Anyone have any feedback on these trails or any others in the CO Springs area?

All depends on the snow. Me and a few others last weekend completed Hackett, but longwater was impassable because of snow and ice drifts

Thanks for the info. Ice absolutely terrifies me. I’d love to see what my truck can do in the snow, especially since ive only seen snow a handful of times in my entire life. I watched a couple of YouTube vids on Hackett and it looks fun.
