I hope someone can help me I lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    I have a 1996 Tacoma 2wd reg cab 2.4L 5spd. 135,000 miles
I did a tune up today and now it has a bog when you step on gas.
New Dealer spark plugs K16R-U gap .40n (are these the right plugs ?)
    New autolite wires
    New BWD cap and rotor
Took TB all the way off and cleaned reinstalled with new gasket (It was REAL dirty)

Things I Have tried to remedy the problem so far:
I put old wire cap and rotor back on still bogs
I pulled each plug back out check gaps .40 good
I think I will put the old plugs back in and try it again
I Think I got all hoses wire connections back on I’ll check for 5th time
I used starter fluid on all vacuum hoses checking for leaks, all is good
I had the battery discounted overnight and all day today

    Please help

I FIXED IT, or I should say it fixed itself. Took it for a long drive and now it's good.

Use carb cleaner to check for leaks. Starting fluid(ether) will find leaky sparks too and explode:(

Put your factory parts back on it (new parts) and get rid of that aftermarket junk. Toyotas hate after market iginition components, put the original stuff back in.

For future reference, maybe it was a computer reset issue?! Maybe the plugs were super old or the air flow was so bad that the computer was retarding the ignition or the mixture was rich, etc. Unplugging the battery for a few minutes forces the computer to reset and it "relearns" the air flow and spark characteristics.

It's possible that the computer was running on the old tune and was in the process of relearning the new one....or, the computer did reset and it was bogging during its learning process.

Just my thoughts...it could have been as simple as a dirty or loose connector (e.g. throttle body) that "magically" made a good connection after some driving.

I took the aftermarket stuff back and put the 14 year old wires, cap and rotors back on. Sense my local dealer does not have tune parts in stock for my rare 1996 2wd 2.4L tacoma I'll need to order them
Thats Lewis Toyota of Topeka Kansas
