Sorry guys should of been a little more specific. 2000 AT V6 3.4L. And now that I think about it. Wondering if this is even possible with the current lift I’m running. I have the Total Chaos LT. I know it says it’s for the prerunner and 4wd. I know for sure I’d need extended cv’s.

I want to keep it AT. And something simple, so manual hubs. I’d like to do it in two parts if possible. Transmission and transfer case and keep 2wd for awhile. And then do the rest. It’s my DD and doubt a project like this would be done over a weekend.

It's easy, just keep it simple and use the mechanical parts. Manual hubs, Non-ADD stub shaft, J shift T-case. If you can swap out a transmission, you're good.

You can definitely have it done in a weekend. It’s that easy. Manual hubs and a j-shift transfer case setup is 100% bolt on. Even then, if you want to run ADD it’s only minimal wiring and/or running vacuum lines.

Was also wondering about the spindle. Can I use my 2wd one or do I have to get a 4wd spindle?

I wouldn’t advise running the 4WD transmission in 2WD since you’ll get grinding if you don’t get the correct length rear driveline off the bat. I drove my truck in 4HI without a rear driveline essentially making me the world’s only FWD Tacoma for a week while I got the rear driveline shortened.

I really wouldn’t advise doing it in two parts. I would get it all done at once.

You can, but you have to press out the wheel hubs and since it looks like time is your issue it’s easier to have steering knuckles ready to swap out.

I think for this project I will be able to get a car, so that won’t be a problem. Just figured since besides doing the brakes and radiator. This will be the biggest job I’ve done. BecUse of that didn’t think I’d be able to have it done over a weekend. A friend of mine is good friend with someone that has a shop so hopefully he can let us borrow some stuff of even let us do it there. I would think he could press out the hubs

Also read about a few people buying transmission and then rebuilding them? Besides that wondering what other things I can rebuild/upgrade while doing this project. One that I heard was the bearings. Oh and I can’t remember what gears I have in the back I believe 4.10’s?
But I want to eventually change to a 4.88 due to 33’s and the try and extra weight. What problems would I encounter with the front gears? Heard they have to match or be close or else they can get blown out or something along those lines.

Usually you don’t meed a rebuild on the auto transmissions if they’re solid and shift fine. They’re not like American transmissions, AISIN ones are plenty strong.

If you have a lt kit you won't find axles for manual hubs or atleast I don't think you will

I took a number of months to convert mine, so it can be done in stages...
1st stage - Transmission, transfer case, rear driveshaft
2nd stage - front diff and drivetrain (except front driveshaft)
    3rd stage - front driveshaft

@SafetyDang is local to you (Anaheim) and has extensively 'forum-documented' his conversion.

If you have LT and want Manual hubs good luck. You might as well go ADD. I've talked to TLT was the only one that ran Manual Hub Tacoma Outters and Tundra Inner Shafts. They said it isn't worth it and to just go with ADD. I'm in LB and Anaheim lets grab a drink.
