    Welds.....

Never said it was a good idea to weld through crap, but you can with flux core.

Here's the location of the hard to get to ones. The one on the driver side is basically above the gas tank.

Ohhh!! Started with a Lincoln weld Pak 100 that a friend loaned me, it broke and I purchased a Hobart 140. I'll recommend a Hobart 140 to anyone, it can do like 99.9% of what you need to weld on on a Tacoma.

For the record I offered to buy a newnew wel for him and he refused.

You're correct. Not sure why I typed that bass ackwards.... best bet...clean ALL surfaces as best as possible. Makes for cleaner prettier finished welds...less splattering. I'm trying to get myself in the habit of cleaning and prepping everything as if dirt is a dirty word.

Welding is like painting . Prep is at least as important as the actual final process.

Flux core because I was using a regular 115v plug. You get better penetration with flux core because it's a hotter process than gas. I could give two craps what the weld looks like, as long as it holds. But if you are doing a bunch of sheet metal welding, flux core burns too hot for that and it's easier to use gas. I also didn't want to worry about having a bottle filled and all that.

These are reasons why I got the cheap $100 HF Flux Core 125. Still nib now, but it's there when I need a welder.

TRD Off Road sticker. Not the whole package, just the sticker.
Or just an old 110v stick welded from 60's you steal from you grandfather's barn.
If you deside to remove them, itll take about 10 sec with a drill bit.

My first welding projects were hand rails for a deck. Did em for a neighbor. They needed to look good. Still wore out a grinder....

2nd task was welding a couple new rear quarter panels on a Camaro I'm trying to restore. That's when I got the argon tank.

I got a 110v Lincoln. Since have added a 220v Airco commercial machine. When rich uncle gets out of poorhouse I'm wanting to set it up for aluminum welding.

Local Tractor Supply does exchange argon tanks.

Remember though it's still in R&D stage. All it will take is boxing in the double sheer and not slotting it and that will no longer be a weak point.

I’m honestly super surprised no one looked at that during building or before race and didn’t say “maybe we should box this in before he runs KOH. Ya know, just in case”
