    Was looking to do a weld on skid of some sort at gear swap day.

    Looked at this option but don’t see any protection for the under side of the diff dragging over rocks. Seem like it’s protective when backing into rocks..

    For me I'm fine with dragging the bottom on rocks because the housing itself is pretty darn thick, whereas the back part is pretty thin (maybe 1/8"?) though I will avoid dragging the bottom if I can.

    That's why I'm gonna just protect the back and call the rest good.

    Yea no doubt.

    I’m just thinking bout adding some 3/16” meat at the bottom to help the lip around the drain plug. I already needed to remove smeared steel to get a socket on the plug.

    Also not sure if that dif you linked in welded full 2 sides and bottom but would consider drain options to flush mud out once home..
