Well, a credit score is really a debt score. It just shows how well you pay off debt. Wife and I cut all of our credit cards up 4 months ago and we're on the fast track to being debt free. Including the house. Dave Ramsey is smart. It was worth our time taking the class. Hard to train yourself? Yes absolutely. So worth it though.

I get that, and yes you are technically correct, but unless family gives you stuff (inheritance or whatever) you will be in debt at some point (mainly house). I use credit card rewards and other things to help me pay off that debt by buying other things that I would have to spend that money on.

In my mind, house payment is acceptable to have, especially at a younger age.

pay for location. I'd move out farther into the country if it didn't mean a longer drive to work.

Maybe I’m ignorant. But I try to have my money making money as much as possible. Through high interest savings, aggressive 401k, cash back, etc. If one uses a credit card to spend what they don’t have, I get it. But when tracking every dollar and only spending as you would right out of the bank, I can’t see why using credit is a bad thing.

Yes I see where you are coming from. Buy you don't have to be in debt. Most people are. I thought transferring balances and using rewards was good 6 months ago. Nah, best thing to do is snowball all that debt, pay the lowest balance off first and work your way to the highest. If you want something, save for it, pay for it. We've snowballed the crap out of our debt and are down to one card, the 4runner and the house. The one card will take a couple months then we can throw all of those payments we were using to pay off all those cards into one lump a month on the 4runner and BOOM. That will be paid for within a year. Then comes the house. Goal is 5-6 years. Live like no one else, so we can live like no one else.

I agree, it can be difficult too though

totally get that. I think I'm technically doing/done that. Thankfully my dad is like a financial guru and has taught me his ways and things to do.

At first no. We had no emergency fund. That is where troubles began. Water heater craps out, next thing you know your dog is missing and your daughter is knocked up. Buy this on credit because we needed to, then another etc etc you get the picture. The cards were same as cash, zero percent for so and so months. All except for one that was costing us monthly.

Now we don't need a credit card for an emergency because we have an ample emergency fund. I gotta say, It feels really good to not rely on a credit company for an emergency. Septic tank filled up with all the rain, no problem, cut em a check for 300. Replenished the emergency fund the next month.

I didn't mean for me, I mean having the availability of the money and also the restraint of not spending what you don't have. I can understand it being difficult, especially in this world we live in.
