The 360 camera is just a marketing gimmick really. I have it on my 2011 X5 and I've used it like twice in the 7 years of ownership. For a bigger vehicle like the Tundra, it may come in handy when parking in tight spaces but for the Taco, I think it's overkill.

It does give you a nice overhead view to impress a passenger though!

But I do like the subtle changes with the LED lights and the newer dash. Glad I didnt pull the trigger on the 2018 OR last year. The 2020 OR will be in my driveway as soon as it's available :)!

I hate to burst bubbles, but I doubt that we will be able to simply drop in the new 2020 headunit into our current Tacos and expect AA or Carplay to work. It might be more than just a headunit upgrade behind the dash.

I say this because I remember when Mazda's got AA & Carplay in late 2018, they found out that they couldn't just drop in the new HU into their 2017's due to wiring harness changes. It turned out that Mazda had to run a new completely new wiring harness that was compatible with AA & CP. I'm not saying that is definitely the case with the new Tacomas, but I just wanted to manage expectations...

Seems like the new Ranger is priced about $5,000 more than a similar Tacoma so they probably figure a price bump is ok.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is on your phones, it is projected onto the head unit via USB cable.

The cost is spread out and every trim has price increases. Don’t be that naive

I could get a new Ram Laramie for around 47k

Probably a better deal than a Tacoma

Yes, but the mic needs to be of a certain standard (older mics really suck), the USB cable has to handle both data and power (which ours does thankfully), the interface with the steering wheel buttons have to send certain signals (if enabled).

Yes and no. Yes the mic on the new trucks are specifcally tuned for the new head units. But you can still use your current 3rd gen mic on this unit, just performance will not be AS GOOD.
Jumper harness from vehicle side to new unit and you're good to go.

I made the following adjustments and am mostly satisfied with the sound, at least from a factory radio perspective.
    -Subaru tweeters
-Fade set to rear 1 or 2 to balance the overall sound. The rear speakers seem to have more bass than the front, and the tweeters create a severe imbalance.
    -Treble set to +3
    -Mid set to +1
    -Bass set to +2

I agree. Considering fit and finish, the fact that I’ll have to reinstall original headlights at sale time if i buy aftermarket. I would rather just go with the OEM. And I’ve never liked aftermarket housings.

Ya, i dont want none of those do-dads, lol. :)

You prefer the 3rd gen engine over your 4.0? I test drove one and much prefered the 4.0

You probably saw the Panoramic View Monitor (PVM). This is probably the Multi-Terrain Monitor (MTM) on the OR trim.
