I don't see much value in small diesels in small trucks.

You quoted a post regarding the engine and transmission talking about the lack of diesel option.

literally the rest of the world (other than Can/US/Mex) uses almost exclusively small trucks with diesel engines. The American consumer has been tricked into thinking diesels are slow and dirty.

I mean they'll probably add a diesel eventually just so they can charge you 5k more for it

Remember the cost of diesel here does not make it a value option. In europe gas is way more expensive and their regulations are much more forgiving on accepting diesels. That's why small diesels dont make much sense in America and they make a lot of sense there.

Yeah not sure why everyone wants a diesel so bad. although those trd bro headlights would pair perfectly with a set of stacks and some coal rollin

This morning I woke up and hopped in my '17 after touching my door to have all doors unlock (modified with Carista), pushed my start button, backed out of my garage with the nifty low-res single backup camera and took off in my truck to commute to work. I didn't have any nannies telling me what I could, couldn't do or anything I had to disable to maintain control of my vehicle, I mounted my iPhone XS Max to my dash as I always do - basically ignoring the 7" entune unit at all times.

I expected the 2020s to be different enough to talk me into trading up my '17 if I'm honest. But none of the "upgrades" change the quality of the truck, just new styling in areas and some new tech.

Luckily, at 5'10" the Taco was sort of made for my average height so I have never had to worry about seating positions, raising, lowering, etc.,

The army green is interesting to me, but I wish they would take a queue from the FJs on colors like Army Green and Voodoo and leave the roof super white, and on colors like those I actually wish the fender flares were a bit different, maybe painted an off-color of the main body or main body color even on OR / Pro trims.

I was a little disappointed with the "upgrade" as well. I expected more but I guess it's a good thing since now I don't have the urge to trade in my 2019 lol

Not sure why so many are dead-set against a diesel, or at a minimum always trash talking them. If you don't want one, don't get one. And hating on drum brakes too for that matter.

Bro-hammer you said so in your own words "The more rounded, less macho look is now in." That is bullshit, rounder is not "in" and I used the Tundra as a example. It is "rounder" looking as is the Ridgeline and sales suck for both vs a boxier looking GM, Chevy, Tacoma, Ford, Ram etc... are selling like hot cakes

And drums work fine but they are the cheap way out and aren't as effective as discs. This is the only high cost personal vehicle sold with drums all other applications are on entry level cheapo model vehicles

Because it's not cost-effective? So what, nobody is making you buy a diesel. If someone else wants it, that's their decision.

Tricked how? Compare the Hilux zero to 60 vs the Tacoma. It's twice as slow.

I have nothing against Diesel, but I dont think its worth $4k more than a gas motor (pure speculation, that's the markup for a chevy colorado for a diesel vs gas) diesel is way cheaper in most countries but its more in the US, and hp/torque numbers will likely be very close to the same. Only difference would be some more low end torque... but at the cost... why? I can tell you I drove a colorado gas and diesel, and you're really just trading top end for bottom end. Neither faster, nor cheaper to drive.

to be clear, I do not WANT a rounded Taco. I love the tough styling of our trucks. I'm just tired of replacing windshields..... on #4 in 2 years and my driving habits/routes are unchanged

I'd guess LED headlights will be part of the premium package for the TRD S/OR. Are the power seats a standard option?

By the perpetuation of the negative stereotypes (dirty and slow) and the rough patch they went through in the 70's-80's. Good article about diesel in the US - https://rentar.com/no-diesel-cars-u-s-diesel-popular-abroad/

Some on TW rip people who complain about mpg by reminding them if they want mpg, they should drive a Prius. That line of thought could be extended to 0-60 times, if you want a fast vehicle, buy a Supra.

I don't need a fast vehicle. But I need one that'll get up to speed as I'm getting on the onramp. A Chevy Aveo passing me while I've got the pedal floored gives me no desire to have diesel.

Again, it all comes down to a persons own choice. Nobody is going to force you to get a diesel.
