Guys I need some help deciding.

Right now I should have around $1k before I sell any patches. Lift is a definite mod and will be ~$630. Then once I sell patches I’ll have more.

    1. Then should I go sliders and skids with money from steps.
    2. Streamline bumper with smittybilt winch
    3. Roof rack
    4. Full skids and keep steps
    5. 285/70 MTs and sell KO2s and use that money to do one of the above
    6. Save money and be responsible

I think first order should be lift and tires. After that I would do low pro bumper and winch because recovery points are key.

Or sliders, because panel damage is bad.

    Then skids

Could I do bumper w/o winch and sliders with step money?

That was gonna be my 2nd option. No lift equals skids for sure.

I think that’s also a very solid plan. Could always add a winch later. Reason I say skids last is because for whatever reason (maybe wheelbase) is because both 4runner I wheel with (@twheat40 and @ADV4R ) ran/run stock skids for awhile and did just fine, even on hard trails. Hell, Kevin still runs stock skids and does a black trail every now and again.

Okay it’s settled. Lift, streamline w/o winch, sliders.

Randy the shorter wheelbase is probably why honestly. I also feel like since I’ve got 4x4 I don’t have to really bomb trails anymore so I won’t be doing as much bouncing and hopefully less damage.

I would definitely do sliders. Protect those panels. Skids can always be upgraded as stated; especially if you're not going crazy..yet..

I have been running stock skids for almost 2 years now without any major issues

Yeah I’ll have to ease into it since the cfo likes my vehicle now and cares if I mess it up.

Honestly the oem on the runner now seems to be pretty thick. Skids would be weird for me anyways because I need the ones cut for kdss.

The stock skids are alright. They will definitely bend if you're not careful. For me it just meant taking some trails slower and not slamming down on them. Mine were plenty beat up and bent out of shape when I tossed them out. I also didnt get skids until recently and I have run plenty of blues and 1 purple without issues.

    Hmmm Lets dissect this.

What lift are you doing? You'll have ~$370 left after lift then add patch money.
I would get streamline with this money

Selling steps? How much do you think you could get for them?
Save for a little bit after selling and get sliders at the tax sale

Tires how new are the KO2s? Size? What do you think you can get for them? Save some money to cover the difference
There are some good cheaper options for M/T tires but I think for you a more aggressive A/T would be better suited. Like the STT Maxx, Duratracs, etc.

If you make a plan and just do one little thing at a time you'll do better. I agree with Randy lift and tires. It's easy to keep you off your panels and banging hard on factory skids.

That’s likely what I’ll have to do. I’ll just put skids at the bottom of the list for now.

885/886 in front depending on bumper or not and then 895s in the rear with 5100s in the corners. Getting the 885s from @twheat40 if no bumper is bought.

Would sell steps. Probably get $250-$300 for them. Think they are around $375 new.

Tires are 265/70R17 so I don’t have to get rid of them. It would just be a bonus to have bigger tires.

Also wouldn’t mind this rig being more overlandy w/ a hint of mild to moderate wheeling.

Look at Jason Koretge or something like that on youtube (strange character) but nice rig set up. Get some good ideas off his.

Yeah that’s swell runner from IG. I’ve followed him for awhile now. Love AJ’s (fotornr on IG) rig too.

This. Definitely sliders sooner than later. Maybe ask Eddy about the 0 degree sliders if Mrs. BravesTaco uses them as a step.

Do some research when you go winch shopping too. Warns are great, but they're kinda like Sony- you're buying a name. Look up ComeUp and Engo winches.
