I agree, and it's good to have competition.

Agreed. A part of me feels a little screwed but I’m trying to stay positive. Lol

Compared to the 2nd gen maybe. But the first gen had one in only 2.5 years, then another more major one 3 years after that.

For those asking, I'm sure the 2020 headunit will be thousands of dollars. Not to mention second hand price will be high because tons of people will want it. Someone mentioned elsewhere that Toyota wants like $4200 for the 2019 headunit? It's a factory part.. It's going to be insanely overpriced.

I'm currently digging around and looking at aftermarket headunit stuff. Seems like $~1500 will get you a high end 7" headunit with all the Apple and Android compatibility stuff plus a ton of other software/app toys and all the Maestro hardware for installation.

As far as I can tell, the only thing you lose is the Maintenance tracking stuff? The unit won't look quite as filled out on the factory dash but hey.. is that worth thousands of extra dollars to you? I'm still trying to figure that out.

Earlier today someone was wanting a closer picture of the updated cubby. Here it is. SmartSelect_20190207-164006_Chrome.jpg

Won’t comment on that price rumor. However, I’m willing to pay upwards to 2000 for that headunit. Aesthetics just match compared to what aftermarket has to offer.

    On second thought:

Not sure if that is the correct part for the current headunit in my car. If it is, it might just be worth trading in my 19 for a 2020. :goingcrazy:

I prefer the cubby. They're are a lot of other places to the those buttons.

It looks like in moving the traction control button, they brought back the sunglasses holder up above. I do use the cubby for my garage remote however.

Do you have any hope Toyota will ever just push out an over the air update to us to get AA and ACP?

I miss the sunglass holder on mine, but I've gotten used to putting them in the center console. I use the cubby for my house keys.

Funny that this supposed cubby is brought up because I was just wondering if the truck has some kind of cubby area that I could modify into a slot to put my phone and mold a USB-C connector into the bottom. Slide the phone in, connects Android Auto to headunit automatically.. viola.

..and now the cubby is gone :lalala:

Do you mean if you already have a third gen, you want to see a software update to get AA and ACP without the new units?

No problem there, to each their own! It's more marketable to have a larger screen, and all of the studies showed majority of customers steam their music or use radio ( XM, HD, etc.)

I agree, I use the CD player because the truck has one other wise I'd just stream from my phone or iPod.
