Saw a Youtube vid where the guy uses a baking sheet / pan under the heater - flat surface + if the heater does tip it doesn't land on your bedding or mattress.

Thats a good idea. Or just hang it from the support structure of the tent.

I use a water bottle on the tailgate, if the water is even with the rings the truck is level enough.

My worry is the heat rises straight up on these things fast.

Yeah I put mine in the corner and it heats up the tent fabric super quick and it gets really hot. Could only imagine what it would be like if it was hanging right next to the fabric.

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
Anyone know if the Tepui sheet set will fit a @Cascadia Tents Mt. Shasta Extended Pioneer? The Tepui Autana 3 has the same sleeping footprint as the CVT tent (56"x96"). I like the idea of using the sheets with a down comforter instead of sleeping bags, because I'm afraid my dog's nails will rip my down sleeping bags.

...At 60 feet in, the water was quite clearly up over the top of the tires and bottom of the doors on the driver side and I could tell it was even deeper on the passenger side - @mrs.turbodb now much more serious about the crossing than she'd been the afternoon before. And we were still getting deeper.

"Hope it levels out." I think I said out loud, "We're getting really close to the intake." My adrenaline at this point was high, but I kept my cool and made sure to keep a good bow wake in front of the truck.

I'm usually drinking a beer and arguing with my wife on how to park the truck, then do it her way.

So I picked up a Front Runner Rack recently and I've been having trouble fitting Yakima's Skyrise clamp mount systen around the slat. Just wanted to know if anyone is running this set up or any inputs on how to mount it. Screenshot_20190207-193738_Chrome.jpg

You may have to buy the mounting brackets that Tepui or CVT uses. They sell those parts separetly but it's like another $150 if I'm not mistaken. I have the same tent and I've been hesitant buying a new bed rack for that same reason. I may go the BAMF expo bed rack route.

Just the Yakima round bars with their Bedrock mounts. www.yakima.com/bedrock-2

I got them for free from a friend so it's my temporary setup for now. The weight of the tent causes the center of the bars to sag some so I use two notched 2x4s to support the center.

How do you like the Yakima tent? I’ve seen mixed reviews. Figured there is a probably a reason it is always on sale at REI

I've only used it twice so far but it serves it's purpose. It's not like there is that much of a difference between them and the other brands other than maybe material. I would recommend it.

I'm trying to get some camping in this winter to test it in those elements.

Have yet to sleep in mine, but from what I've read its strengths are price and weight, plus just add some hydrophobic spray if you're concerned of water leak.

Anybody running a Leitner Designs bed rack or any type of tall bed rack w/ a hard shell RTT? Looking at this type of set up but I need to clear the shark fin on a gen 3 DCSB and hopefully also clear a prinsu because I don’t want it hanging out over the back past the tailgate

So you want the tent to hang over the cab?

I have a 2nd gen with 13" over bedsides rack (short bed rack on long bed), and my tent hangs over the tailgate by 7"
