    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
No full write up on the U-joints (that I've seen).

But, the way I ended up doing it is set it up like this. (Pull out all the snap rings on the bearing cups before you start)

That socket on top is a 20mm the socket on bottom just has to be big enough to allow the bearing cup to fall out when you beat on the top socket... Wail on the top socket with a hammer. Once you get the top bearing cup in the middle of those yokes the bottom cup will fall out and you can normally get that side of the U-joint out of the yoke. Do it again on the other side of the U-joint and the whole U-joint is free.

Putting them back in, just put a 20mm on top and set the bottom on another 20mm and give it good hard taps until you can see the groves (on the inside of the yoke on the bearing cup) to put in the snap rings.

Now... The Double Cardin joint is a different process. The U-joints in that are replacable, but it's a pain in the ass.

So... This arrived today. This one makes me nervous.

I don't enjoy the thought of doing transmission work.

I got the mildest kit. Says it doesn't need machine work or special tools... We'll see how it goes.

Well duh. Completely overlooked that. The one I did is supposed to make it shift faster for putting the trans under more abuse. I guess the latter is for when it’s a bit worn and needs a refresh.

I’m curious though how much it differs in terms of putting them under stress. I’m not a huge fan of the 1-2 shift but at least I can boost through them and know I did something to protect it.

@Uphillshunter if you don’t mind post the size hole it tells you to drill in the separator plate. I’d like to know how much smaller the bit is.

I'll definately post details when I get it done (hopefully this weekend).

I'll probably make a few posts about it in my thread here.

Swapped out my old, torn apart steering rack bushings for some new urathane ones , what world of difference! Also my truck was starting to sputter a little at low and high rpms, so I replaced the spark plugs, wires and boots. Running like a top again! 0B1DD8E8-E89A-4C3B-A9B9-E2FC1E64E8F9.jpg

Can you post some photos? I want to check my frame to make sure it's doing alright.

Hopefully there isn't a next time.

    This isn't a Tacoma anymore.

I am not a fan of the 1-2 shift when in low range.
