TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Juanito, I am running the URD longtubes and sims with the TRD tune. I've had it about 500-600 miles and it hasnt had any issues. Runs good and the sims work as advertised. Mine is a 2013 though, i've heard they dont play nice in the 2015 trucks

 

That's why I went ahead and bought the j-bung adapters.

Gotcha. I woulda loved to do longtubes from the get go. I just heard 1 too many stories of problems with the sims that scared me away.

 

What do these do....put the sensor of the sim where it should be so it doesn’t give ya any problems??

 

Do yourself a favor and get a few bolts the right thread pitch and length. They'll help you with a couple hard to reach places when installing them

 

I've had it throw a code once on me, but no CEL. I reset it and it has never come back

 

So I am curious if anyone still has shift flares with their transmission?

The other day I was delivering some truck parts and the truck was taking for ever to shift into OD. When it finally did the rpms shot way up then it shifted. It has nlt done that since I had my valvebody done so I am hoping I don’t have something else wrong.

If I do, I guess it’s time to swap a 6 speed in this thang.

Before anyone asks it’s the ratiotek HD valvebody upgrade, and I am only on a 2.85 pulley right now.

 

Please let us know if the sims work. I've read they dont always work on later model 2nd gens.

 

Happens to me daily.

 

Mine does it mildly, and not too often.

 

27 degF on my way to work this am in Dallas. 11 psi all the way to the limiter. It was awesome. It's never pulled this hard. I did change my MAF sensor this a.m. before work because I kept throwing a code under about 35 degF. No codes today.

 

Bolts?

 

With my new valve body I haven't had an issue under normal acceleration. It does happen slightly if I'm accelerating hard to get into traffic and then back way off on the throttle as its shifting into OD.

 

Yes metric bolts that match thethread pitch of the studs and can be used instead of studs. There were a couple on mine that would've been extremely difficult to put the stud back in and use a nut, just due to how tight a fit everything is. Threw a bolt in there and saved me and @Roostfactor a bunch of trouble

 

Damn. Wish I did that on mine.

 

How many did you buy, and where did you get them from?

 

i did not buy any.. Roostfactor had some extras (i think we used two total) and he was gracious enough to spare me them.. I think any ACE hardware or other store that sells bolts should have them. Id' take a stud in with me and match them up so you make sure you're getting the right pitch and length.
