There's already a recall on the Ranger...

And their “Built Ford Tough” F150s. Not saying Toyota is invincible. But in this case..the grass is certainly not greener on the other side.

To be fair, I got a recall notice for my 18 yesterday on the front brakes. But at least it was a month after launch. :D

Yeah I saw that recall back in December. Immediately checked my vin number after picking my 19 up a week after. Luckily mine wasn’t on the list.

People outside of the US swear by the Toyota Hilux and some of those Jihadist think it is a gift from god. The fact that the Ranger has gained so much ground against that very strong competitor and is now even outselling the Hilux in some markets, just goes to show that Ford isn't playing around with Trucks.

I wouldn't be superised if the Ranger becomes the number one selling midsize truck in America. I definitely like the Truck.

At least the exterior still looks the same. Some tech that I won’t use and some lights that I’m sure Meso is already considering making, I’ll be happy with my 18 for awhile.

Call me superficial but I still think the 2012+ Tacoma’s are some of the best looking trucks ever made.

I would have been way more upset if I bought a 2011.

The Ranger is going to become a serious contender in the segment after a few model years I think.

But then again, people thought that about the Colorado too.

I wish more people would bash the 3rd gens though, I’m sick of seeing so many of them down south lol

Colorado also has a diesel option. In all seriousness. I’ll consider the ranger when Ford stops fucking around and brings this to the states:

    What did you get?

I stuck it out and paid it off. At this point, no issues and I'm about 3.5 years into
ownership. Curious to see what the next one brings to the table in 2022/23.
If the baby raptor comes, which it looks like it might in a couple years, I'll definitely
    check that one out.

I think I had nearly every issue that came up...

rear diff - 3 freakin times!
    bad brake drums
    engine mount//vibration issues
    CPS
    fkd up alignment from factory
    2 Bad tires
    Low tranny fluid
    both leaf packs replaced
    3 transmission updates, ECU updates
    Steering wheel dampener
    bad speakers
The worst - the rear brake light leak, water everywhere :(

Dealer at the time helped me out after all my griping and moved me into a 17 with little pain on my end. Which turned out to be a great truck.

Man you should be the biggest complainer here if anyone, you did get every bug. My 16 had 2 rear diffs replaced, lower control arm plugs, brake light leak, low transmission fluid (remember the thunk some of them were getting), but thats bout it. Good on you for sticking through all that I would have paid it off and moved on.

Yes my 16 has spent a ton of time at the dealership for required repairs. Very un-Toyota like reliability. I will be looking closely at a 2020 replacement.

    My list is

    -Repair hood as glue seperated
-Rust repair in drivers door jamb
    -Rear diff TSB
    -2 transmission software updates
    -Replaced leaking P/S pump
    -Replaced failing hvac control head
-Replaced noisy front differential & drivers cv axle
-And now currently getting timing chain cover re-sealed due to oil leak

    Truck has 46K on it.

Sure but there are still headunits that do much more than the stock one does even with Apple/Android Play.

I'm sure there are still gonna people swapping them out and selling them for $600-800 like they already do, not a single person on this planet has bought these shitty HU's for $4k.

Depending on sales, I would expect them to add it during the first model refresh, 3-4 years out. Seeing how much they are upselling the F-150 Raptors and Tacoma Pros, it would be a disservice not to offer it. I've loved all of my Tacomas, but this would make me seriously consider a Ranger.

That is a nice looking truck. Nicer front end than a 3rd gen Tacoma with its overbite.
