Rims, hoe lights, sound system, tint, vent shades. Mostly all cosmetic right now. Can't wait to finally have it paid off, and start doing suspension and performance mods.
So you're suppose to chage your timing belt before 100,000 miles. So does that mean you gotta change it before or at 200,000?

Im 99% sure it's every 90,000 miles. So you should do the second one 90,000 miles after you changed it the first time.

When I owned my 96 tacoma...it was 60K miles. That's what my owners manual said.

Now....according to some, I've read that Toyota changed it to 90k miles in the newer trucks.

Do you have an owners manual? It'll be listed in there.

I would suggest doing them every 90,000 or less, the main problem with old timing belts is that they stretch and throw off the camshaft timing, not that they break necessarily.

For my '98 they recommend it every 90K.

Of course that meant I did it at 125k because I'm semi-moronic. It was in pretty bad shape. Lots of cracks in between each "tooth" and when the mechanic flexed it backwards the rubber snapped/cracked in half.

I think it was just under $400 (i.e., like $360 or so) when I had it done...non-dealership...all belts replaced at same time.

$550 which included doing the water pump. Which is highly recommended since it's easily accessible when you're doing the timing belt.

A timing belt isnt going to "look" bad. It degrades. At what point, is unknown. I have seen them last as much as 180k miles, and let go at 98k miles. Best to change it at the recomended interval, as they rarely last longer than 110k miles.
