I plan on buying a handgun soon, and I'm really liking the look of the Sig P225. It's near exactly what I'm looking for, a small 9mm with a full size grip. If I could afford it I'd really love to get a Commander, but with limited funds it seems like a decent gun, with lots listed on Gunbroker.com Any of you have any experience with these? The only negative I've found so far online is that they have heavy DA trigger pulls, but the single action pull sounds good, same with build quality and accuracy.

I don't have a P225 but I do have a Blackwater Tactical P226! I have 4 Sigs and can't say enough good things about them! I haven't had any issues with any of my Sigs!

My Sig is the finest handgun I have owned, or fired for that matter :)

OK, so Sig=good! Now I just have to find an FFL that will transfer it for me. Here in the great unfree state of MA we have a list of guns that we are allowed to own, actually we have 2 lists and if it's not on both than we can't buy it from out-of-state. It comes down to the individual FFL holder and if they feel comfortable doing the transaction for you or not. Great system, aint it?

God bless Texas! I love being able to have a 20 round clip in my BWT 226! It is sad to go to a gun show and see 50% of everything says not legal in California! I like the fact that I only have to wait 5 minutes to purchase any firearm!

Ditto. The P229 is also available in 9mm. Not sure about the size of the 225, but you should at least eyeball this one too.

Never shot a Sig. But I do hear good things about them. If you are limited on funds, a Springfield XD40 is a good option. You won't be disapointed.

If I were to get Sig it would be the P250. It's just too awesome.

Yeah, too bad it's not a DA/SA. The concept is solid though and it's pretty good looking too.

Packer, I've told the story before about buying a 250 for my wife. Spending the $650 for a convertible pistol, then spending $500 per caliber conversion just isn't my style.

Wow, I didn't hear that story lol. Ouch. They market it like "getting two pistols for the price of one" on the show Handguns. Disappointing.

Believe it or not, I can't buy a DAK Sig here in MA. Sig made their double action only's with about a 6 lb. trigger pull, and here if it's not at least a 10 lb. double action pull it's not allowed. The reason I'm looking at the 225 and not a 229 is mainly cash, I haven't found any 229's for less than 600.

I hear you. I "lucked out" when a not-too-close cousin died. Total gun nut, but I got my 229 for $25 - the price of the FFL transfer. Amazing... he has several more, and I'd love for my dad to sell them (executer of the estate), but they're tangled up in court (my cousin was in the process of a divorce when he died - does that mean it's his property or hers?)

I had one. Really liked the grip, 8 + 1 capacity, shorter than expected reset on the single action portion of the trigger. Reason there are so many available may be due to the number of european police turn ins that have been imported. If you are not hung up on max magazine capacity, excellent choice. Thinner profile than the P228/m11. Guy in club shoots a police turn in for IDPA, he likes it alot, I have'nt seen it hiccup yet.
