Glad you were able to get the issues resolved to your satisfaction.

I've had bad experiences with first year releases. If you're considering any new vehicle, I'd suggest you wait for the platform to season for a couple of years, let others be the guinea pigs...

yeah, not going the test dummy route the next time! :D At this point I'm not
considering anything, saved all I could and paid this one off in just 26 months. I can't
even remember the last time I didn't have a car payment.

I hear ya and that rear brake light was the worst of them, mine had screws missing on the
inside he said not the faulty seal that many had. Just coming out after a hellashish rainstorm
and seeing water everywhere was brutal but they did a great job on the cleanup and repair, so
much so you'd never know it happened, the dealer was great. He went so far as to say if that
huge sub woofer box and amp are damaged in any way, I'm going to make sure it covered, it
wasn't but that pretty decent of him to make that offer.

Don't worry about a getting a custom tune for your CAI, you definitely need to try out v1.05 as-is. I'm very glad he took a few extra months to really rewrite the maps in this version. Toyota really screwed the pooch on their stock tune which is why Matt basically scrapped the stock maps. I'm still surprised they didn't address it in the 2020 refresh...

I suppose you’d be right if you’re as tall as the steering wheel/infotainment in a seated position?

Good lord! I didn’t want to get a Wrangler JL because of the reliability issues, maybe I should pass on the Tacoma too. My ‘13 F150 has been really reliable, only 57k miles too.

Fortunately I don't have to keep a vehicle to 400k.

Yes. That's what I mean. You seem to know a bit about this project. Any idea if there are plans to give current 3rd gen owners the ability to upgrade software? It would be nice if they'd just push out an over the air update for free. But I'd happily pay my dealer up to a couple hundred bucks to upgrade the software so I can use Android Auto. I despise Entune.

Unfortunately that is not going to happen. The hardware between the unit you have currently in your truck and what is in the 2020 is different. For example, the SD map card is gone and has since been replaced by a module or extension box that is mounted underneath the head unit. USB for the heading is also been upgraded for the support of the new software. The microphone has been tuned specifically for its location above driver, etc.
