Have had a couple when I still had trucks, will get a new one for the fresh truck build.

Never had a huge snow load on them but 1' was on there a couple times and didn't damage anything. Blowing snow will find all the openings though not significant enough for me to worry. Rain stayed out for the most part.

Why did I wait so long to upgrade the stereo after I had already replaced the speakers? Several thousand+ mile road trips would have been improved if I had just ponied up and got a new head unit sooner.

Sadly the CarPlay integration is SO DISAPPOINTING. For an integration that came out in 2014, it feels like it's still stuck on the 1st iteration of the iPhone. I may have to give in and ...
    1. Pay $99 to enroll in the Apple Developer program
    2. Apply to obtain CarPlay entitlement from Apple
    3. Write my own navigation app using Mapbox SDK for adventure specific maps, yet still meet Apple's requirement of "CarPlay navigation apps must be designed primarily to provide navigation services to a user"
    4. ... Profit?

Oh, and I'd need to still wire up the "parking brake" wire so that I can watch video while the parking brake isn't on.

Age, I've had no experience. While I don't consider Consumer Reports gospel, as best I can tell they are an unbiased datapoint. They create standardized tests, and then subject a bunch of products to those tests, compile the results and make some recommendations. I don't always agree with their conclusions, but I find it useful to compare tire models, which I can then compare against opinions on places like TW. Unfortunately, I'm unaware of any internet forums where soccer moms and dads passionately debate the performance of their sedan tires as TW members :argue: over all-terrain and mud-terrain tires. So, in the FWIW category, I give you the CR comparison of Continental & Yokohama tires:

I cannot explain how the Yokohama Avid Ascend (T) rated better than the Yokohama Avid Ascend (V). The FAIR wet braking of the Avid Ascend (V) gives me a little pause. If your wife doesn't need a (V) rated tire, that Yoko Avid Ascend (T) looks like a very good tire at the price. (I'd opt for the (T) over the (V).) Also, the Continental PureContact LS rated very well , earning a Recommended rating, BUT they CR does not appear to have reviewed the Continental Control Contact Sport A/S. Note the prices shown here should all be considered relatively, as they are probably not in the size tire for which you are looking.

Your experience seems to be reflected in CR's review of the Michelin LT/X MS tires:

The DWS06 received high marks from CR, also earning a Recommended rating. The only thing I note is only FAIR snow traction, rolling resistance, and an estimated tread life of only 45,000 miles which seems to confirm Nazu's unimpressed view of their longevity.

So... the CR ratings do seem to mirror several of your experiences with different tire models.

Without further adieu, here are the CR top ranked tires in Performance All Season, and Ultra High Performance All Season tires.

CR Performance All Season -- top rated tires

CR Ultra High Performance All Seasons -- top rated tires

In the FWIW category, my recommendations would be:
    1. Michelin CrossClimate +
    2. Continental Pure Contact LS
    3. General Altimax RT43 (T) (Not shown above; scored 70)
    4. General Altimax RT43 (V)
    5. Yokohama Avid Ascent (T)
All these tires were rated as Very Good in Hydroplaning, Snow Traction, and Ice Braking. A few were only Good in Wet Braking.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies I think we are going with the Continental. She liked them better than the Yokohamas and as long as she's happy I'm happy.

For sale, in April, "lightly used" BFG KO2's in the most prized size: LT265/75R16. They correct your speedometer to actual speed and mileage, decrease your gas mileage from your OEM passenger rated tires that weigh about 35 pounds less per tire, but keep you from sliding into the ditch in a snow storm. 6/32" tread remaining out of 15/32" new tread depth.

Those looking for Discount Tires eBay sale it’s usually in March/April and then again in October. Something like spend $400 or more and save $100. Should be able to use it twice as that’s what I’ve done for both of my cars

Love it. No issues in the snow. My only complaint is that the front panel gets pushed in at highway speeds. It isn’t enough to cause any issues-you can’t tell a difference when driving.

Anyone near CO springs know of a reputable shop that I could pay to have look over a truck for me? Also open on Sunday? Traveling from GJ to look at one and would like to have it looked over by a shop. TIA

Not many shops I know open on Sundays.

Maybe a Pepboys could be talked into putting it on a lift and you could visibly inspect the frame?

But a "reputable shop to inspect" on a Sunday? With only a days notice? I'm out of ideas.
