What’s the device about 5 feet off the rail? Looks like it has a lever with a ball attached to it.

 

It's a hand throw switch. If needed, the trolley operator would go past it, get out, throw the lever in the other direction, and go the opposite way back the way they came but on the other set of rails.

 

Positive Train Control?

 

Not sure to be honest. Something along those lines, yea. On any given day, its called PTC or CBTC. All I know is that the trolleys will be controlled by radio frequency now. They'll be able to pack more trains on the line since operator error will be basically eliminated. It's a completely new system to us and will be quite the learning curve. Its neat to be a part of something like this from the beginning and from such an early point in my career here.

I've heard that we will be the first in the country to have this on an entire light rail system. Chicago I heard has it, but only in the yard areas where passengers don't go.

I believe the King Of Prussia extension off of the Norristown High Speed Line is going to happen also. I'm sure that's years from breaking ground. I hope that the extension will be completed by the time I retire. Not joking.

 

That’s been on the drawing board forever. I’d be happy if they would just connect the Chester County bike trail to the Schukill River trail. It’s supposed to share part of the same corridor I believe.

I’m honestly surprised it’s taking so long - you’d think with all the Developement and the shopping attraction of the mall it would be more pressing to complete.

 

This current ptc/cbtc project was initially a 3 year project that started halfway thru 2015. They just added another 2 years on it... Square wheels doesn't even begin to describe the shit show that is here.

Good. Workin on a 1st gen dB cab to be like sander1036.

 

swapped my headlights yesterday at the shop. bought them off a local guy (he's on TW, not sure he's on this forum) Cleaned them up with a pneumatic buffing wheel and meguiars lens polish. buffing, cleanup and install took me 2 hours, and I had a rusted headlight bolt (the one that's hidden, and you need to pop the front bumper off for) imagine that! I really like the blacked housing look, coupled with the grill I painted a few weeks ago to get rid of the chrome...

 

Not much just working on plans to build a house. Other than that just work no truck stuff.
