Had a close call yesterday morning at about 3:30 am on the way to work. I had just pulled out of my neighborhood and was on a street with a 45 mph limit. Out of no where 2 juvenile cats (guessing about 6 months old...probably siblings) darted out in front of me. I was on the brakes hard. One kitty realized the error of it's way and 180'd it just in time. But the other was at the point of no return and just panicked and hunkered down...which turned out to be a good thing. At that point all I could was maneuver just enough to straddle her. Thank goodness for Taco ground clearance.

I immediately turned around to check on her. She was still hunkered down which worried me. I stopped and rolled my window down to call her. As soon as I made noise she stood up and trotted away perfectly normally....obviously uninjured.

Phew...to close for comfort. I would've felt terrible. Been getting up early for 25 years. At that hour I've accidentally run over the occasional rabbit or opossum. Felt bad...but what can you do? But never a dog or cat. That one would have weighed heavy on me.

I like them . They are a lot of fun . They can be a lot of work. They talk. A lot. Non stop. Sometimes they run around the house screaming for no good reason. They have to be played with for a good sitting, at least twice a day or stuff gets messed with around the house. One can't regulate how much he eats, and could take down a horse himself .The other is obsessed with water. He prefers upstairs water. You read that right. Water downstairs is whatever. Put a bowl of water up there's and it's the nectar from God . If the shower is on, he will try to break down the door to get in it. He wants to be in the shower / drink the shower water.

They fetch everything. The climb everything. They learn your behaviors and use it to their advantage. They pull crap with my Mrs that they have never tried with me because they know it's pointless.

Overall they're a blast. Not like any cats I've had before.

We paid $600 each. Common price from a breeder can be $1000-$2000. Rescues are also a very good choice as well to get a very affordable Bengal mix. The Bengal / Siamese mixes are really really cool.

they sound like a handful. Are they pretty docile or do they still have the wild instinct?

People wise they're find. I don't know that I'd trust that around rodents like mice, rats, hamsters, ect... They could be connditioned, but not sure if trust it to last.

They love meat. If I give one of them some cooked lean beef he just goes nuts. One thing to know is some Bengals can show affection differently than other cats. Not all like to be picked up and held. Out cats don't care for it. But they come lay on your lap and head butt you all the time for head scratches. The fat one will throw himself at our feet with force onto his side for Nellie scratches. They have tons of personality.

It's highly highly recommend to not have them as outdoor cats. A) they will be stolen B) they could just decide to not come back. There is still that wild side to them. If they see a bird to or squirrel, they will take it down

House wise, if you give them stuff to play and jump on, they tend to leave furniture alone. We have the cat tower pictures above. We also have scratching posts scattered around the house. Once we are into a new house, I'll modify some book shelves for them to play on .

Overall they're great cats. Soft as heck too if you've never pet one. They have pelts, not fur. So anyone with allergies does not have to fear

    That’s fantastic.

I’d love to have one but we’ve got an affinity for adopting abandoned kittens. I doubt I’d ever come across an abandoned bengal kitten.

Lately my wife has been bugging me that the oranges need a kitten to train.

I think we just may pick up a 4th this spring.

If you aren't set on a kitten, there are a really good amount to adopt. What happens is teenie boppers get them because they think they look cool not realizing how much energy they are and can't keep them in a 700sqft apartment in the city. So they give them up for adoption at 1-3 years old. Sad, but both the new owners and they cats make out better this way.

We have, what we think is a Tabby/Bengal mix. Completely different from other cats we've had. She's lean and very muscular and athletic. Pretty big for 6 months too. Loves water. As no qualms what so ever about playing in it, sitting in it, putting her head in it. She'll even dart into the bathroom when you go in there and jump into the tub, just waiting for you to turn it on. Leaving the toilets open is not an option. Tried squirt gun training her on some things. Yeah right. That was a game to her. She loved getting wet. We gave up.

She climbs anything she can get her claws into. My wife finally just took the curtains down in the living room because we kept finding her up her near the ceiling on the topper. She would simply climb all the way up using the curtains.

She plays fetch with us and the other cat (who doesn't have a clue what's going on). She's very intelligent and quite the problem solver. We have to be careful with anything we don't want her into because she'll figure out how to get to it.

Meat....good lord. She can smell it before we even open it. If my wife has it on the counter we can't turn our back even for a second. She'll even stick her nose into a hot skillet to get to it. If we offer her some she goes ballistic....climbing the walls and howling like a banshee. We have to watch them when feeding the cats. She will dominate both feed bowls. We have to sometimes put her up when we eat. Certainly when guests are over. Your plate of food is her plate of food in her mind.

Very sweet girl with loads of personality. But we have to be mindful of everything.
