I sure wish my wife would run into something

Maybe while parallel parking. I need new front and rear bumpers

I feel like you could easily redneck repair this with a steel scotch pad and some decent canned clear and pre-mixed paint.

The trim lines is a matter of fixing the upper bumper support bracket and fender mounting bracket, which is just bent a little. They are pretty flimsy metal pieces. Just have to take it apart.

Yup. Thinking of a low profile steel bumper just have to research on which one. I want it to be a minimalist with a winch while I’m at it.

Thanks for the link. I’m gonna give the wife some time from being in shock. Then I’m gonna tell her the truck will never be the same unless I go steel with a winch lol.

Lol...my wife drove through a car wash, it ripped the bumper cover of our grand Cherokee off..well, it was still “on” but hanging off. She drove it like that for a week and never noticed..I came home from out of town, immediately noticed and had a devil of a time getting the car wash to pay for it after not reporting it for a week. Ahhhh, married life.

I'd tell her it's fine and you're just glad she's alright. Tell her when the guys at work ask you'll tell them you did it yourself. After the quicky bring up the winch/bumper.

Shops typically want to replace and repaint the whole bumper cover. It has something to do with the texture of the plastic, if they sand and repair the spot it wont match because of the texture of the bumper This usually puts the price of the repair up there with the cost of an aftermarket bumper. If an aftermarket bumper is something you plan on doing eventually, then now might be the best financial time to do it.

Just make sure you understand the pros and cons of the bumper. I'll be keeping mine stock for as long as possible. I keep hearing too many stories of people being sued after an accident because of the damage cause by these bumpers. It's a scary world out there.

If you use your insurance it will prob be the deductible.Ours was around 500$,my wife vs.a gas station pole in her 14 Land Cruiser.Ours was way more damage to running board and rear quarter/back door.I would fix it back to stock for now that’s what insurance is for, tell her not to worry! At least go get an estimate and go from there. Then you could compare to new steel bumper but that leads to more mods...Lift,bigger tires,etc...Ha got to enjoy the ride.We all want to do it some day! Good luck man!

There was someone selling a complete quicksand bumper on the SoCal area. Just a though. But, I would just go armor.

    Right, the wife did it...

Leave it as a reminder so you can always hang it over her head when needed. Lol

That's the point. The steel bumper and frame can take it. And would've shrugged a hit like that off no problem.

Buff it out, make up a manly story to explain your battle scars. Then come the next big sale buy a new steel bumper...she won’t give you any grief then.

At 10’ you can’t even see it, just leave it like it is. Saves you money for when it happens again.

I would leave it if I was you. I am sure nobody in your trailer park will see the damage or really care about it!
