this is my 2013.....did many hauls (overloaded several times)
lumber, endless bags of concrete, towing tools/loads, sometimes acted a work bench or ladder platform, even used it to help install the bay window.

I would love to see other tacos working hard
share your pics of your truck being used as a hauler for work
Im sure there are some painters or concrete guys out there with some good ones
the dirtier & more abused the better!

my 2013 helped build my house, what a great helper....never complained or gave up
just needed to feed her gasoline

 

pseudo peel off bug deflector.....we get these crazy green mosiquito like bugs called midges where I live in the summer, so this is my solution
I actually picked up the idea at the race track back in 2012 when I took my FRS to several tracks on the west coast

 

this is my first taco (xrunner)
I used it for my business for deliveries
what a cool ride for dropping stuff off
I miss her
the blue was sick
& the body kit was so sleek
& the 6 speed manual was toooo much fun
105 in 3rd gear & still 3 gears to play with
I should have never sold this baby

 

Try a light coating of baby oil. It will look a lot better than tape. And it works.

 

My little truck getting me to a remote Search and Rescue location well before the Chevy (it got stuck twice).

2nd pic is hauling away old appliances from our house which makes the wife happy and saving a disposal transport fee.

What you can't see is the fully loaded bed with almost every tool I own. Load in for a 3 month remodel project. The front end floated down the road.

Ive carried 16' boards (2x12x16' doug fur to be precise) on my taco as well building my home, so I feel ya

all the raw wood in the back, now I have never had the pleasure of doing that

No pics but mine moves firewood from the daylight basement to the front door of my gf's house, and it carries all my stuff to and from college (couch, shelves, clothes, guitars, amplifier, microwave, mini fridge, etc...Not all at once)

Im in the market for a 90's model "truck" with a 4 banger, stick, & standard (single) cab,
budget $1000-1500 (prefer an truck that hasnt seen the 4th season, so one from the bay area or LA would be ideal),
kinda like yours but 20 years older

Yes, I have rear bags. Rather I “had”. Currently upgrading to Dakar Heavy Duty Springs, but the bags served me well for around 8 years. Besides the ARB bumper the air bags were probably my best investment outside of the actual truck, haha. Noticeable difference over leaf springs if you’re trailering. But I don’t haul like I used to, so I’m moving toward more off-roady stuff.

I’ve wanted to get a truck similar to the one you described. As nimble as my little truck is, a Toyota from the generation before the Gen 1’s would be awesome. I’m a Toyota Guy, so I’d probably stick with the brand. But man, some of the better examples are pricey. Especially in Texas, where a lot of folks think just because something is old it’s gotta be worth a fortune, haha. Meanwhile, the fenders could be rotted out, the bed a rust pond, and the seats a two decade collection of fart dustings and snot bunnies.
