Looking to buy an OEM but just want to reach out to those who have the blackout badge overlays and tailgate inserts to see how durable they are, mostly concerned with the quality of the adhesive.

Anyone seen them through a winter, how do they hold up? Ever had one fall off or lose adhesive?

And on the flip side of the coin, how clean do they come off if you change your mind? Do they damage the chrome badges in the process?

I sold the tailgate letters out of my blackout kit so I can't speak for those, but the badge overlays are fine. Winter has had a little of everything so far and no issues, they are a Toyota part so I expect them to last a long time.

I've had them for 5 days now on my new TRD OR. And it is winter in CA. Holding up fine.

    Sorry. Just messin' with ya.

I've hade the e-bay vinyl inserts on my truck for almost 2 years of Montana weather, no problems.

Yeah, on the fence about it. On one hand they seem to really pop on white Tacomas but on the others they sometimes seem messy from a distance. The tailgate letters take a lot of the subtlety of the stamped "Tacoma" away.

I plastidipped flat black my front door “Tacoma”s and tail gate V6 emblem. Holding up very well and the guy who showed me how to do it correctly has had his emblems plastdipped for years with no issues.

Mine have held up to salt & -50° wind chill factors along with high pressure car washes & 100°+ with high humidity so yea I'm pretty sure they aren't gonna just fall off

I have the OEM tailgate inserts and I couldn't be more satisfied with them. They fit perfectly and have a very good adhesive.

I'm unable to weigh in on the emblem overlays as I removed the three chrome emblems from my OR.

I'm digging the stamped "Tacoma" on my truck. Has a different look under every weather condition.

I've had mine on for months and they've been through numerous car washes. So far, so good.

Mine have been on for 3 months or so and no problems. OEM from a dealer on eBay. Only the black overlays are on, not the tacoma lettering tailgate fill in.

    I'm torn. I could do one of two things;

    1) get the overlays and the black chrome exhaust tip for the blackout look.

The only thing is that they make the badges really stand out and I sort of like the subtle look of the chrome badges.

    2) leave badges stock, get chrome exhaust tip to tie it all together. Since I will be keeping my Sport wheels it might look better with some chrome.

lol i'm definitely not a part of the jihad against chrome but I'm not a huge fan either. The biggest piss-off with these badges is that they come as a set and I just need the door emblems and the V6 emblem.

Debadge, Pro Grille swap, blackout all the things. Gimmie a minute to do some more.
My dealer says the OEM overlays are being discontinued by Toyota... abruptly? I *just* got my Tacoma and am really trying to avoid all the chrome things... it's a Cement DCLB with the Premium option so the bumper doesn't even have the chrome corners... It's going to look sweet but if overlays are gone, considering just a flat-out debadging of the door 'tacoma'... and mine doesn't have a V6 decal for some reason anyway.

I would not necessarily count on what the Dealer says.

Does anyone know where I can pick up a set? I'm really tired of getting too-good-to-be-true crap from the internets.
