Sure can, there should be some kind of button that allows you to move the focal point around within the frame when you're looking through the lens. Not sure what it's like on the Sony cameras but every mid rsnge to high end camera these days has that feature

So in that pic you for instance you want to try to get everything in focus ya? That involves shooting at a smaller aperture, you'll have to use the camera on manual mode. I don't know if it's possible in that particular instance to get the foreground tack sharp since its so much closer to the lens than the lion, but you can definitely get it more in focus. You want an aperture around f/16 - f/22 (even up to f/32 if your camera allows it) and that'll focus damn near everything.

Downside to a smaller aperture though is you need to let more light onto the sensor to get the image so you'll need a much slower shutter speed...if it isn't bright and sunny then you'll probably be shooting with a shutter speed that requires extremely steady hands or a tripod our else it'll be blurry from camera shake.

Can also increase the sensitivity of the ISO to help with that.

Manual mode takes a lot of practice but once you get it down, your creative abilities are endless.

Personally, I think a shot like that is perfect the way it is...the lion is sharp and the foreground is blurry, brings your attention right to the lion. Sometimes when everything is sharp its too busy and takes away from the subject matter. Depends on what you want though

I love the shot how it is. If everything was in focus you wouldn't have any separation of the subject of the picture from the stuff around it.
