I ran a Sundown SA-12 a while back. It sounds great and this is the longest I have had a set up that I have not changed. It just took a bunch of measurements and time.

    Too much.
I'm using an Audison APS 10D. I switched from a JL 10TW1-2. The Audison is much cleaner.

I’m very happy with it. Hits low, but stays clean. I’m sending it 400w RMS but it can handle a bit more. It’s a champ for rock, alternative, pop, just about everything. It gets loud enough for me for the small amount of rap I might play. Required very little modification required to fit. I had to cut 2 of the car seat hooks on the back wall. I had a local body shop re-weld them a few inches higher. I also took off the plastic backing off the seat because the woofer surround was rubbing a bit. But I never fold down my seat so that wasn’t a deal breaker for me.

That looks great and you included the exact sub I'm looking into. how is the sound? i realize that shallow mounts take a little time to break in but just curious before i pull the trigger.

Depends all on your box setup, if you go with something like a Mr. Marv box then you can squeeze no more than 5.5" mounting depth out of a standard woofer. Shallow mounts of course will give you more wiggle room in which most go with a 13tw5, the downfall is most shallow mounts have less excursion due to the shorter voicecoil.

If you go with standard size woofers and 5.5" depth DC Audio lvl 2 (which is what I am installing, install thread coming soon) and Sundown SD3 are your best choices. If you want to go all custom with cut out for magnet/sealed with glass you can get more depth and more watts....There are several other subs I found that could of worked, the one I wanted to use in particular was the Ascendent Audio Chaos but they have long been discontinued. 1000w a piece for their 10", 2000 watts in a Tacoma with .5 cubes each would of been insane!
