It actually says on the back..

"ILL" is illumination
"B" is battery
"ACC" is accessory
"E" - Im not sure, must be ground?

I would test everything out first.

 

"E" is for "earth" which is ground.

 

Thanks! That makes sense. Yeah, we tested every single one of them. Also took it apart and tested the prongs, the back of the...motherboard, and the resistors.
The top right of the clock looks like it may have been damaged at some point

Well the 03 clock fit perfectly in my 97
It’s got a new home.
I’m loving the red led!,
It’s been probably 10 years since I had a working clock,
Just never pulled the trigger

 

It also dims when the head lights are turned on for night driving, so there will be a wire for that too

 

nice looking clock! Mine still works, greenish color though. but I suppose at some point it will stop working. it is actually only correct time half the year as I rarely reset it for DST. Just curious what the knob or slot is for between fuel gauge and hazard slot, Mine is blank and have not ever found out what would be put there? is that what the oak dash/instr. trim package looks like? I have never seen one before

 

The chrome metal ball actually is steel and my phone has a magnet attached to the back.
So it sticks to the ball and I can spin the phone 90 degrees for maps usage.
The wood trim package was something I did back in 1998 when wood trim packages were popular.
I probably would have a graphite type trim if I was going to do it again

 

I certainly don't recall these compact phones back in '97 LOL, a co-worker then had some big old thing in a heavy case looked like a satellite phone.
any idea what that slot was actually intended for if anything? I'm sure if I dug around these forums I find it sooner or later … Certainly not a cut-off passenger airbag key like the '98s have?

 

I think it was just an extra cutout. Later they put the hazards button there instead of the center console Vent section

 

You mean the dash clock you can't see from the driver's seat? I actually forget I have it, and just use the clock on the radio. I can see that one, lol

I can see mine just fine, it depends on your seat position and the height of each person. Maybe because I have a tilting steering wheel helps

Depends on the steering wheel (edit: and what 1997Tacomav6 said) . With my steering wheel I can see the clock perfectly if I have one there.

 

I have a tilt steering, so maybe that’s different for helping

If I lean forward or to the side slightly I can see it, but in my natural driving position it's hidden right behind the wiper lever and the wheel. It's honestly the worst place to put a clock, and my only complaint about the truck.

 

oh I like that OEM CD player, does it still work? No Cassette? I only had the cassette deck so a nice little storage area in that spot underneath, swapped the OEM cassette deck into the Corolla (which only had AmFm) and got a tape/CD changer unit under passenger seat in the truck for the long roadhauls. That kenwood krapped out in 2oo7, got another CDhead unit but was not compatible with the changer anymore! … I am looking into a new unit that just has a USB with tuner and the largest stick with FLAC files when one that looks just right comes along

 

finally found out what that blank slot is purposed for. if you have Automatic Transmission, ECT button

I have MT so I used that slot for reverse switch override for backup camera (I can turn backup camera on without putting truck on reverse).

 

RysiuM, just wondering if and when your truck started spitting out little pieces of foam from the vents?
mine just started doing this the past month when I turned on A/C and defogger
is this a function of humidity and aging? it gets wicked humid in the spring and summers here
