Don't worry, a lot of those folks fleeing CA are bringing their great ideas with them and will turn your area into a mini CA all too soon, ie, Denver CO.

Like locusts, they wrecked where they were and then leave and try the same thing somewhere else, then are surprised when it wrecks things there too.

I had one and loved it. Just too many drunks wanting to mooch rides. Traded it for a Toyota truck with a bench seat.

    That’s insane.

When I bought my Tacoma the dealer barley worked with me on price because they were like...if you don’t buy this truck someone will next week.

I work at a Ford dealership and we just got 3 new Rangers in. The white Ranger Lariet 4 wheel drive was $42000 and sold to a guy in Pennsylvania that must of bought it on line. I got to drive it but it was gone a couple hours after we got it. There was an identical grey one which was purchased that day by someone at this dealership and we still have the blue XLT that had $36000 on it. They look better than the Colorado but I was not that impressed with them. The Quad cab rear seating is OK for kids but I doubt adults would be comfortable.
I am also hearing Fords new Eco Boost engines are junk from the mechanics and have a few being torn down. The service manager told me that I would want to give up my 17 Tacoma when I see the new Rangers. I dont think that is going to happen.
Im wanting to see the new Bronco when that comes out.

We have a large military presence in my city. The dealership attitude is, and have heard several times "I can get some dumb ass GI to buy this at list price, just have to get them the payment they want"... This doesn't help in my area.

You pretty much have to know someone in sales (manager level) to get a smoking good deal. My 14' DC Sport Longbox was 32,734.00 out the door, and at the time I was seeing used 12-13' Taco's going for more than that in my area. The only way we were able to get that price was a favor that my wife pulled from a contractor she works with. Her husband runs a Toyota dealership in my city. Four years later, and 56000 miles, this Taco was totaled in a competition with a tree. We received 27860.00 for the insurance claim.

These trucks sell themselves. This doesn't mean you don't have bargaining room. We didn't by another Tacoma for this very reason (pricing). We went with a Subaru, at half the price, better in snow, cheaper to maintain and operate, and we didn't need two trucks.

In my 16 years in the Army, I never by a vehicle next to base. The dealerships do mark up prices and look for that Soldier who just wants the vehicle and doesn’t care about the price and just wants the vehicle. Even when we bought my wife’s T4R we drove over an hour to a dealership. It is hard to blame the dealer when people continue to pay the price.

At least when you spend 40k on a Tacoma it doesn't lose half its value as soon as you drive off the lot. That ranger will be a rattle shit can by the time it hits 50k miles.

I agree. When I retire in a few short years, the plan is to start my own auto sales/brokerage. Personally, I'm tired of our military getting the shaft as usual. I can make a good living and still offer great prices over these large dealerships. People in my area want: Jeeps, Toyota Trucks/cars, Subaru's, Diesels. I'm going to do mostly Lexus/Toyota/Subaru's, and requests.

Sticker price of the Ranger is about the same as a similarly equipped Tacoma.

As I do not as well, but these bigger dealerships make good money doing it. I always give the advice to be willing to drive a little farther away to get a vehicle, but you cannot make them do that. Too make it worse some accept a 16-18% interest rate on top of the loan.

Looks like the Ranger has more room in the back seat than we do in our trucks...

If Joe is dumb enough to not figure out what a reasonable loan rate is then Joe will hopefully be smart enough to learn a lesson from it.

Well see, the only reason it didn't work last time was because the right people weren't in charge.

This time they'll get it right, just you wait and see.

Eventually we'll probably see big discounts on the Ranger and the Tacoma rarely is discounted.
