Saw a vapor trail, with a parallel black trail, which smelled like burning electronics. Didn't see a crash though.

She didn’t end up liking it. The redesign is nice, but she didn’t like the way it drove.

So I've got my 12 year old daughter yelling Taco for everyone she sees. Wife wanted to kill me on the ride to her cheerleading competition this morning.

Haha yeah. She liked it a lot more. We opted for the 10 yr/75k warranty cause yanno, Heep. Hopefully it won't be an issue but we both felt it was worth it for this car .

She wanted to like the Rav4 more, but just didn't feel right.

    The on-going project.

Got to work on my junk seats.

They look pretty decent, right? The PO told me he pulled them from a car with flood damage. The driver's side will go front and back, and the rear will go up and down, but the front doesn't work as well as the lumbar. I haven't tested the passenger side yet, but according to the owner they would move forward and back but nothing else. He said the motors would spin and the lumbar pumps inflate, so I figure I'll try and figure out what's going on.

I started disassembling and here I am.

If you look at the bottom seat cushion everything brown is likely mold. I tossed all the foam.

I started cleaning up all the material, I figure some APC and CLR should de-rust most of the components. I've got the original seat control modules and wiring from my stock seats, so I can test if it's a junk module or what.

The inside of the seat covers. Originally I was going to save them as they looked decent enough with some good cleaning, but now I'm wondering. Thoughts?

Still too short for my truck height....

I have 8 ft long wood ramps now and they work decent however they don't fold so I can't transport them with the cap closed.

I would always wonder, about every smell or non-smell. Every big breath I took in etc... I could KNOW it was clean, but part of me would always wonder:confused: I guess it comes down to how much it would be to replace them, since you have to redo the foam and everything anyways, might be cool to just do a custom seat from a place. Not sure if your trying to keep it all original though.

Either way, good luck, seems like it will be a little bit of a project but worth it in the end either way!

New foam is $300, which is a given. New covers are $500ish.

I sold my identical stock seats which were in similar leather shape, if not a bit better and everything worked for $600 a few years back to find the Corbeau seats I put in. I am regretting my decision to sell them. These were only $150 so even if I decide to abort later I’m not totally screwed.

The problem is I got fat. The Corbeau seats are just a smidge too narrow. If I adjust my fat around I can get comfortable.
