Sound deadening recommendation

I have the headliner out of my truck at the moment to run wires.
I was thinking about lining the roof with sound deadener. I know they have stuff that's made for roofs.
What's a quality product that I could use?

Noico worked for me.

 

Ty sir, this is what I used, enough to do my entire interior minus the roof. More bang for my buck in my opinion. It was only around 70 bucks when I bought it in 2017, has went up some.

Wanted something that wont come unglued in the summer heat because it's applied upside down.

 

I'd have recommended SDS, but looks like they're out of the business as of a few days ago. I'd probably go with Dynamat Extreme or Knu Kolossus. Noico is pretty popular around here - haven't heard of any falling off but I do recall some posts questioning its heat tolerance. 2nd skin seems to make a good product as well, but IMHO it's overpriced.

HushMat, the only OEM approved "deadener".

This is definitely an item you shouldn't base on price point. I suggest you do your research before you invest your time. The cost of the product isn't where the expense lies, its in the time it takes to install the product.

I think I may go with Noico, I have 36 sq. feet (black) in my Amazon cart, I could use what's left over from the roof on the floor when I pull the carpet.

Hopefully we see an early Spring so I can start on my many projects. Cold weather sucks when you have no garage.

 

I used the Noico, and bought the 36 sq. feet from Amazon it worked out really well and was easy to install.

 

Get a small roller too, it's critical to eliminate bubbles if you want it to stay put. Bubbles expand in the heat and pry it loose. No bubbles, no problem.

 

I also have a roller in the cart. I like that Noico has the diamond pattern so you know where you rolled and where you didn't for better adhesion.

 

More than you'll ever want to know about the subject. If nothing else, reading the very last post is helpful.

The pictures are long gone, but it's still the most comprehensive testing I've ever seen.

 

I’ve used noico lately because of price but Fatmat also worked well for me on several other trucks. Always worth it to do the doors, back of the cab and floor with as much as possible.

 

The way I think about CLD tiles has a lot to do with the place I'm putting it.

On the floor I'm not as worried as I am on the roof b/c gravity does a lot more to the roof tiles than the floor tiles. I would only use highly reputable products on the roof. On the floor I think it's a lot less critical since it's very rigid & there's not really any risk of peeling off.

That being said I think the cost of the materials is nothing compared to the labor of application. If you apply it yourself, just buy the good stuff so you don't have to worry about it in the long run...

I used Noico and so far it has held up to the NM sun/heat just fine. Have had the headliner down once since installing, and I didn't see any indication that it was coming loose. Also, as an FYI, be mindful when using a roller on a large flat piece of metal like your roof. It is possible distort the metal and create lines.

 

Just ordered the Noico stuff and a roller.

 

The Noico stuff got delivered. The roller wont be here until next week.

 

Im surprised nobody recommended Raammat, far superior than any other deadner I have put my hands on and at a great price in comparison.
