You have a Federal Signal siren system on your truck?

That will be better than any CB radio PA system. I’d like to know more about the siren system. If that was equipped on the truck properly to be used by emergency services, it would already have an amplifier unit. If you don’t have the siren box, I’m a little confused as to why you have only the Federal Signal siren.

I should add having a legitimate emergency services siren installed on your vehicle in the State of California (assuming you’re in Lomita) is against the law, including most other states. Even if you don’t use the siren, if an officer sees the box installed in the vehicle you could catch some grief about it. If you hide it well you could probably get by.

CA Vehicle Code SECTION 27000-27007

27002. No vehicle, except an authorized emergency vehicle, shall be
equipped with, nor shall any person use upon a vehicle any siren
except that an authorized emergency vehicle shall be equipped with a
siren meeting requirements established by the department.

 

It’s okay. It’s going on my roommates BRZ. Everything on his car is already illegal.

I went full retard buying that siren system. I even bought real Whelen light pods. That was my worst impulse buy.

 

Was going to have local PD stop you coming over the foot bridge and give you grief....

 

My truck has the federal siren pa speaker and that's it I'm trying to figure out what I should use to power it, Previous owner had it installed. I think the truck had alot done to it before I bought it and a po removed alot of stuff. The truck came with a federal siren model ts100 series a1.

Im aware of the laws and the microphone and control unit will probably end up in my locked glovebox as the cops will need a warranty to unlock it. Also I havent been pulled over in almost 10 years (knocks on wood)

I have a knockoff of the Federal Signal PA300.

There’s no way it’ll fit in your glovebox. The control box is absolutely massive, at least 2x the size of a CB radio.

Now if you have your heart set on an EMS style system, get a Federal Signal Smart Siren system. You get a big relay control box where you mount somewhere remotely, and a skinny little control panel that looks exactly like a Switch Pro.

The advantage of having the Smart Siren/TouchMaster system is you can use it exactly like a Switch Pro and use all the different buttons to control things like lights, a compressor, lockers, etc.

It’s basically a cheaper Switch Pro with the advantage of also having siren features. That big fat control box you mount somewhere like under your seat has lots of inputs for accessories.

Amp is built in. That’s why the unit is so large and bulky.

Biggest reason I didn’t install it in my truck is because I couldn’t find anywhere to mount it. I have a clone of the Federal Signal PA300.

 

I don't really care for the sirens more to use it as a pa/speaker

 

They all have the same siren features. The choice here is the size, usability for other things, and form factor.

PA300, outside of police functions, will do PA and PA only. It’s also large and bulky with a stationary microphone.

Smart Siren system has a remote control panel and is easier to mount, in addition to having the Switch Pro features. Microphone can unplug.

My best impulse buy has to be my 5-lug. That this is awesome. Best $600 I’ve ever spent.

 

Ordered Transmission fluid tonight, so it will be here before next weekend. The plan is to make this swap happen next weekend. That shit is EXPENSIVE!

 

Looks like mine has been removed. I have the controls for it on the column but just a wiring harness in that spot under the hood

I recently did a full flush and went through about 17qts

 

Well I'm hoping 12 qts will do. Dry capacity is supposedly 10.1 Not going to do a flush, just fill.

 

My transmission was emptied at the scrapper, and to fill it took about 16 quarts up to the line.
