3rd Gen 2016+ Tacoma Tailgate Lock

Thanks for the quick response! I'm pretty sure you were correct that it was the early 2016 hinge design with the different bushing that caused the issue. It's installed on my 2019 now and has plenty of clearance.

High quality product and great seller! Highly recommend this product for anyone wanting additional security beyond the factory lock.

 

FYI, had a few returns through the year. They are in the scrach and dent area. I will touch up with paint before I send it but a good deal. I do not resale as new if the are not in my perfect condition.

 

S&D's are gone. Will let you know if I get more. Was expecting one return but the buyer never shipped it back. Must have figured out how to install.

We currently do not have any scratch and dent for the 2016+. We we're expecting a return but it was never sent back. We have only had one returned since 2016 so there are not many.

 

If you guys haven’t jumped on this yet, let me help. I work in sometimes questionable parts of town in Los Angeles. I leave my tail gate unlocked all the time since I’m using it all the time to get gear in and out. I no longer stress over whether I locked it after my last load out, or when I go into work and leave he truck unattended. For the price of admission, totally worth it.

Not sure but it worked on my phone using chrome.

 

Took all of 5 minutes to install with an impact driver + torx bit. Simple peace of mind.

 

Just got one of these. Great little product and seems like a far superior locking mechanism versus some other options out there. Easy install too.

@scleaf , I have a couple of questions. The website shows the lock as version 2.0. What was the difference in the original version and version 2.0? Also, is there any problems with the lock wearing on the paint where it mounts? Thanks!

 

The lock was revised and really just matches my cad version .I had about 10 locks released as ver 1 originally and there were a few issues that were resolved. As for the paint the lock fits very tight and I have not received any comments about corrosion or scratching. It is made of aluminum so corrosion is not really an issue. Some people have used a little silicone under the lock but if you do that I would suggest a little vasoline on the hinge side so it will allow it to release for taking it off your tailgate.

 

Another quick question. Is the red version visible at all from the outside through the space between the tailgate and the side of the bed? (when the tailgate is closed) The reason I ask is because I have an Inferno, and it would probably clash with the bright red. I think Inferno would be about the only color that would have this problem. If it's visible, I will order a black one. If not, the red one seems to make more sense for a thief to see it before cutting anything. Thanks for your patience with my questions!
