Help me with my decision!

What other bed coating would you recommend?

 

New Off Road with a Bed Mat

 

Its a Composite Bed, does not need any coatings.

 

When I was looking, I started with new and looked at used out of curiosity. Basically the previous year was a OR with Tech. Didn't find many Tech/Premium. Resale was high, so the price was up. It was only $3000-$4000 for a brand new one <100 miles with Premium and Tech. So if you add pricing of those packages a new one is only $2000 more.

 

Get new and go with diamondback covers. Buy once, cry once. It will last longer than your truck.

 

Wait till October, you will likely find a better deal on a 2019 when dealers start getting the new "mid-gen" redesign 2020's.

 

Keep in mind that you'll get a better interest rate buying new & the safety features reduce insurance rates.

 

Either way after a few years you will find yourself down the modding wormhole. Always buy as new as your budget will allow, put some decent tires on it and have fun. Congrats on your future Tacoma

 

Why not a new 2019 sr5? You'll save some money over the off-road to get a cover.

both starting prices right? should be able to get either one cheaper then that.

its funny, everyone says how well the tacoma holds its value. then when looking to buy say used ones are priced too high . when selling though its a different story..lol

 

Do an extended test drive. Take it up to 75, hopefully up over some hills. Radio off, don’t let anybody talk to you. Then on the way back turn on ECT power. That’s the only way you will really know. Honestly I got scared too reading all the horror stories and for me it’s not an issue. Don’t listen to other people test drive it and find out for yourself.

 

Welcome! IMO buy new and get options that you want. No need for LineX, it has a composite bed. But get a bed mat. Have fun with your truck.

Thanks for all the info everyone! I think I’ve decided to go with the new Off-road per everyone’s suggestions. I’m going to get a bed cover and mat for my first purchase! I plan to test drive in the next week or two and will update on how it goes also about the transmission test. Any color suggestions? I’m leaning towards silver but I also like grey and white as well.

 

All three of those are good colors! I have Silver, but would have been more than happy with any of the three.

 

Silver looks great and so does Cement. Those two colors match well with the wheels on the Off Road. My Off Road is Quicksand!

Based on the choices you have go for the 2019 OR, or if you can afford the 1-2K price bump wait 6-8 mo get a 2020 OR.

2016 SR5 - BBP paint has had issues, 2016 was year 1 of this gen and has had issues accordingly, overpriced seriously, will be an SR5 no matter your adds and will be valued at trade accordingly

2019 OR - good price, better stock configuration, no need for Linex on a composite bed, Hard covers can be had for under 1K and soft covers for about 1/2 that, better resale/trade value in compared to SR5 in general
