My gym just started letting members have a permanent spot on the wall around the PR board when you hit THE benchmark...got my sticker up and my name will be stenciled in.

    You are quite a beast.

I can handle the runs but the burpees would put me to the test

I question my sanity half through every one of those runs. Especially now in the New England winter. But something about those early morning trail runs keep dragging me back to them.

I take my time with the burpees and watch my HR and do my best to avoid spikes. Since each failed obstacle at a Spartan is 30 burpees I like to make sure I can handle more than I will need to.

I can't imagine. My mind loves carbs. They make me happy. My body loves them more. I don't perform well at all without them.

I always wanted to do one and I had started getting out of shape. I was 24/25 and stopped lifting and wasn't running. I knew I had to make some changes in the way I was living, so I signed up for my first Tough Mudder. It was I think 11.5 miles and at a ski resort in Vermont. Didn't put the training I should have into it, but I finished and felt pretty damn good. I got the bug from the feeling at mile 10 during that race knowing that I was almost done and had accomplished something I felt proud of.

I am 5ft 10inch and during that race was 190#. Right now I'm at 150# and starting to run 1 to 2 days less a week and lifting more on those days. I lost a good bit of fat, but now I need to start building more muscle and stop looking like one of those skelator runners.

I hate how long this process takes. I know people love to just see half naked chicks but seeing dudes like you and others are just impressive still. Like no homo.

This process takes a while and abs don’t come over night and some body fat takes a little longer to burn off.

I’m at that point where the quick weight loss and little muscle gains are done so now it’s just growth and toning.

Can’t wait to just have that built body style :goingcrazy:

The only ones I have used are BCAAs and Fish oil and Flax Seed Oil.

Creatine and Whey are also scientifically validated supplements I just don’t use them.

I am not a fan of preworkouts because I think they teach bad habits. Get 8+ hours of sleep per night and practice good sleep hygeine and you won’t need preworkout.
Plus you’ll see a lot of people on here talk about the caffiene on preworkout... with a good preworkout caffiene is not the main ingredient...
So most people don’t even understand why they use them which means they might not be buying a good product.

There is a lot of crap in powder performance supplements too. Sugars and artificial dyes. Count me out on that. I eat good wholesome food.

Now the above supplements are what I take for gym performance. I take a boat load of others in monthly cycles. Some OTC and some prescription. Things like Vitamin B, iron, Vitamin E, Selenium, Vit D, DHA, zinc, and probably at least ten more.

I’m a suppliment fan. Mine help me avoid pharmacutical drugs. There are just very few proven to really help with athletic performance. Most of it is just a waste of money.

Solid points. I recently changed preworkouts from mr Hyde which had 400+ of lab caffeine and that was mainly it To Kaged which only has 200mg and it has many many many essential vitamins that your body needs(like the ones listed^^^)

Someone like me almost has to use a preworkout as I literally do not have time for a good sleep regimend.

If you take supplements and don’t go hard in the gym tho then you’re wasting money for sure. I’ll agree on that one.

Also for whey protein, that’s just supposed to help you reach protein goals. Most people can reach it with their diet. Taking whey cause you don’t want to cook or eat right is lazy but some people need 200+ Protein a day and that gets tricky cause that’s alotttttt of tuna and chicken

But taking whey and then eating a slice of pizza or cheeseburger is useless IMO

That is false. That is your excuse to not get on a good sleep schedule... or if its true, you need go change your schedule.

Sleep is critical for good health and good health should take #1 priority.

You’d be suprized what you can work with when you get intentional about it. This sounds familiar did we just talk about it? Lol

Poor sleep has performance and health impacts that a preworkout will not compensate for. It largely will impact recovery. You can workout like a beast on preworkout but if you can’t recover its an issue.

I used to work 60-80 hours a week and full time grad school. I functioned for about 18 months before my doc and my body told me to stop.
Some days hours were 3am-11pm. After I quit it took me 6 months to catch up on sleep. That was an eye opener.

Whey specifically works for nutrient timing. If you consume it outside your time window it has no aded benefit over any other protien.

I will just never get why people would rather drink some nasty ass frothy concoction rather than real food haha but thats just me.

I’ve broke it down before and I’ll do it again.

I live a little under an hour from work and have to get to work 30 minutes early.

So I have to get to work at 5:30 everyday which puts me awake at 4:15-4:30

Work 10 hours. Off at 4:30. Home around 5:15pm.

I also have a side hustle that I work on a little over an hour-2 hours a day. So 7:15. Then shower. 7:30pm.

Then somehow I still need to cook and I have a wife that lives a million miles away and I just so happen to enjoy talking to her at the end of the day so I gotta allow time for that.

Now I could goto sleep around 8:30? 9? And get almost 8 hours of sleep but something was missing. Oh yea. The gym lol.

I allow an hour and half-2 hours for gym.

If I go aftwork then my whole schedule gets pushed back 2 hours so I’m down to 6 hours of sleep. Or I can do it before work.

    Which is what I do.

At this point, I simply do not have time for 8 hours of sleep no matter how I do it unless I give up the gym or my side hustle. Both are bettering me for my future so lack of sleep is worth it.
