Winter drivers, do you use 1 or 2 sets of wheels/tires?

Being from Canada, we get A LOT of snow. In my province, winter tires or the 3 peak mountain snowflake is mandatory on your tires so All-Seasons don't cut it.

I currently have an OEM set of steel wheels + brand new winter tires (245/75/16) and an OEM set of alloys with fairly new summer tires (245/75/16).

Because I want to upgrade wheels/tires to aftermarket and a bigger size, I'm thinking of going to a Winter Rated All-Terrain tire and keeping the same set on year-round.

So I'm curious for all the people driving in states/provinces with a lot of snow where winter tires are required, what do you all do? 1 Set of Wheels/Tires or 2 Sets of Wheels/Tires?

 

I use the Oem wheels with winter tires in winter, and then in the spring put on my good wheels/AT tires.
Way better traction for safety using winter tires than any AT tire and your good wheels will thank you not being covered in salt and crud

 

I keep debating this as well. I see a lot of people as well as friends swap out their 2 sets for 1 set of winter rated ALL-Terrains so I'm curious to know people's experiences.

I have no experience driving on a winter rated AT tire yet, so im curious.

 

Your winter rated AT will be fine for most days, but its that section of frost going around a corner, or ice on a bridge deck when you will appreciate having real winter tires on. The oh shit situations.

 

Change your survey to remove A/Ts as your only type of tire on those of us who only run one set.

Many people do not run A/Ts on their truck, especially those who drive in a lot of snow because A/Ts are not rated well for snow. An all season or winter tire is much better.

If you add more options you’ll get a better idea of what people are running.

 

Agreed, and good idea. The EDIT function doesn't allow me to modify the existing options. I'll add a third choice.
