I think it's more of the owners that are the issue, and not the trucks. just how the world is these days.

But the Jeep's are actually hand grenading at time

It’s not bad after the latest flash... people have unreal expectations; this isn’t a dual clutch racecar.

Probably a lot of truth there. My new Ferd has taken me a while to get used to. The SD shifts slow and deliberate so, when you're cruising along and need to get up and go, it takes it's time, downshifts and does eventually go. I've been driving it in tow/haul mode lately and been absolutely loving it. It holds gears longer, downshifts less and uses the built in grunt of the engine to go rather than bother downshifting. It's like a completely different truck.

I have an 18' and at first it was sorta crap transmission, I just used ECT and the fake manual mode to get around it on hills. After my last flash about 5 months ago its been great. I pass people up steep hills, and can take multiple cars at once if I time things correctly. This truck has plenty of balls if you want to learn how to drive it right. Now it isn't a race car, so some passes I would do with my ecoboost I wont try in my taco. Is that a bad thing? My wife doesn't doesn't think so and it's probably stopped me from doing a few stupid things too :curls:

Lots of 3rd gen guys want a M series performance out of this thing, its like they didn't pay any attention to what they were buying or test drive it.

I would hope so since it's a stick shift. Since it's a manual, if the shift strategy sucks you need only look in the mirror to identify the issue.

Mine's the same way when you put it into Toad Hall. Like a totally different truck. In its regular setting on the highway you can set the cruise control, then be going up a long slope and it will hold 6th until you've dropped to 3-4mph under what the cruise is set at before it downshifts, then it'll roar back up to speed and shift back into 6th. In T/H it'll downshift as soon as you hit the grade and hold 5th until the ground levels out. Much calmer.

That's one of the features I miss about the F150; even though it was a dinky motor that 2.7 Ecoboost made tons of torque just off of idle, so it never needed to downshift on a grade on the highway. Even though the Ram makes more power, it's hauling a heavier truck and it's a NA motor so it shifts more.

@morri89 btw not dumping on the SUV. We have one. The thing kicks ass. In sport mode the thing absolutely hauls ass. I've burried the thing and the traction control does an amazing job . It's rides very smooth. We went up in size and tossed teragrapplers on there ( completely her choice ) and the cabin is still dead silent with no mpg loss. We are hoping to dodge the Gremlins as well. My biggest complaint is the rear wiper is a bitch to change for some reason.

And turn eco mode off as soon as your step in the truck. It's pointless

Never thought you were dumping on it

She had a 2014 base elantra that was a pretty boring car. She wanted something more fun and liked the way the Compass felt more than the Rav4. If the tranny grenades we'll deal with it then, not too worried about it now. Also a reason why we opted for the extended 10 year 75k mile warranty.
