JFR Equal Length Y-Pipe for 2nd Gen Tacoma, T4R, & FJ Cruisers

Man I am so ready to make that whole thing happen. I would feel way to guilty though doing all of that work while people are waiting for their y-pipes.

Got an exhaust question for the group: If I want to permanently plug the forward bungs on my URD headers and ensure no leaks from these bungs down the road, is there something I can coat the bung plug with to get a good seal...or just install the plug alone?

 

What headers are those?

 

URD equal length

 

You could use the ultra high temp silicone from permatex on the bung plug. Made for headers. I used copper anti seize so I could take them out if I ever needed.

 

I thought they only had one bung on each side...

I agree with @DocME. Just use anti seize and make sure the plug flange sits flush. I have bought plugs in the past where the flange wasnt flat potentially preventing a seal.

If you want a quality plug and seal I can send you a couple stainless Allen head plugs for $20 shipped or you can get a 10 pack from Amazon for $40.

 

The one in the single primary tube is where the stock o2 sensor normally goes. The problem is the ecu only sees one cylinder. The stock manifold doesnt have this problem because all the exhaust for each bank combines right after the last cylinder so with the stock exhaust manifold, the ecu reads all the cylinders of each bank.
In order for the ecu to read all the exhaust with the URD headers you need to plug that first bung, extend or buy O2 harness extensions, and put the O2 sensors in the collector.

 

The URD headers I received also have more of a matte black finish. Doesn't appear like the green-tinted ceramic in the picture on the URD website. I know they had some hold-ups with their powdercoat shop. Hopefully it's still ceramic.

 

I'm sure it's fine. The color I have seen on all the previous headers was a medium to dark gray. They may lighten slightly when heated.

 

Post what issues you come across, I'm doing my install on 3/9.

 

Get a few m6 x 15 or 20mm bolts to replace the studs on the secondary injection valve. It makes installing the line to the valve much easier.

 

Which is preferred, 15 or 20mm?
