    I have a SnugTop Sport Hi-Liner.

Got the power locking rear glass, it's very handy. Absolutely worth it not to be fumbling for keys in the rain or wondering if I forgot to lock it.

Also got the sliding + fold down rear window.

Sliding window let my passenger grab a backpack from the bed while on a road trip without stopping... pretty neat. Had to fold the window down to make some long trim lumber fit at an angle, and was glad I got that option too.

I got the standard sliding windows. Fwiw, the Hi-Liner Sport has its windows higher up than other toppers (they're above the truck window line, lol) so I'm not sure getting the windoor options would have been much good without a step stool (I'm 5'10")

The Snugtop cap has been great so far. I really like the functionality of it. We travel quite a bit in my truck, and it's been great to load up the back with all our stuff. At Christmas, we definitely had more stuff in there than would have fit under a tonneau. I carry a rooftop tent too, so the cap (with Prinsu rack) has worked very well.

My wife is happy that I got the cap. The fact that all our gear stays dry is a win/win.

I guess the decision between tonneau and cap is - what do you plan on carrying back there?

When I’m camping, fishing, backpacking I plan to carry all the necessary stuff. I have a dog (lab) and it is tight with the wife and two kids in the front and I don’t feel comfortable driving with him long distances in the back. This is a driving force for the shell. Other than that pretty much normal mundane things - work, store, school and soccer practice for the kids, etc. If I did get a shell I would try to do a sleeping platform with the notches in the Tacoma bed, have you done this before? Also, it looks like you have a lift how much of a lift do you have? Thanks.

Looks fine to me. I feel like it blends in with all the commercial trucks or other older folk with shells on :)

So people with the Rebel and Sportsman Package, are the Yakima tracks installed on the thick honeycomb area or outside the honeycomb structure?

The top seems to be the same thickness throughout, but I can't tell where there is or isn't the honeycomb since it's all concealed. I'd ask Snugtop.

Nice shell and Tacoma. I’m looking on heading up to Northern California to buy shell too.

Did they do any sealing to prevent any leaking?

    How are prices at Stanton?

    Thanks

I felt the pricing from American Campershells was reasonable, and they did a great job on the install.

The cap isn't entirely weather-tight though. I have noticed that the rear hatch has some gaps, and on stormy days in the mountains I have small snowdrifts that form back there. I still need to do a little DIY sealing back there. It's only when the truck is parked and the wind is hitting it just so. I don't have any leaks from rainfall on the freeway.

Hello all. I had my Rebel installed yesterday: auto lock, Sportsman, Bedrug, Sliding side windows and sliding folddown front window. The question I have: Do all your fold down windows fold down 180deg? Mine folds down 3/4 of the way and stops....? putting all the weight of the window on the hinge. My sons Rebe,l that he purchased 2 years ago, folds down all the way and rests against the front wall of the bed....which is the way I would think they should all work.
BTW: I really, really like the autolock, bedrug and the over all look of the Rebel.

The folding front window in my Rebel does not fold flush with the bed. It folds to just slightly past 90 degrees, but I'm assuming it's only really meant to open for cleaning the glass. I never would leave it open. My one complaint about my cap is that window - it's a complete pain in the a$$ to get it closed again. I probably need to go back to the installer so they can adjust something.

Thanks for the info 203. When did you buy your top?
I've looked at the brochures and online photo on Snugtops site and the front window looks to fold down to the bed wall-180deg.
Please some more input from other Snugtop owners. Looks to me, comparing to my sons window he bought two years ago, Snugtop changed to a different hinge. Very, very bad design that is going to fail.
Thanks in advance for replies to this Snugtop front window hinge design flaw.

Snug top Rebel, Thule tracks, ditch tracks, Bagged rear suspension, F/R anytime camera, intermittent wiper switch...
Inside on the honeycomb. It puts the tracks a few inches inside the ditch channels if you choose to go with ditch tracks on the cab. On mine the folding window is leaking some but no window and a gasket means the paint on the cab gets destroyed in a year or two. This summer I'll pull the cap and see if I can fix it. I think it's around the frame rather than past the window inside the frame.

Got mine 18 months ago. Sliding windows with pet screen and Yakima tracks installed. Pop lock definitely worth it and glad I spent extra money. Rear window unlocks using the Toyota remote when I unlock the car doors so no extra key to carry. Recently mounted a Prinsu on it and now regret not getting the sports package since I easily load 200 lbs of stuff on the rack.

Only complaint I have is top would creep backwards on the bed and once a month I would need to loosen bolts and push it forward and tighten the bolts again. Guessing dealer did not put weather stripping between shell and bed? Finally solved it by bolting a large fender washer to front bed rail as a bump stop to keep shell from moving rearwards

Very helpful info on the Rebel. Those of you that have the sportsman package any complains or problems with a rooftop tent on the shell?

I had a Snugtop on my last truck and had no issues with quality. It stayed assembled, it stayed painted... kept stuff dry.

One comment about fishing rod holders: the ones on the inside are just crap. Maybe people get some use out of them, but on a short 5' bed (or even 6' long bed), you're not going to fit much. Maybe if it's your freshwater spinning gear, you can store the rods broken down, but what's the use of a rod holder that can't hold an armed-and-ready rod? All of my saltwater rods a 7' or longer, and they're one-piece. And then there are the 9' fly rods.

RTT probably needs a reinforced roof.

@rogue.tacoma the bolts for the Yakima tracks go thru the thick honeycomb area on my Rebel with Sportsman package...came from the factory this way.

Any body with the rebel also have a front runner rack on it? Should I get Yakima tracks and install it into those, or drill the holes and install the front runner tracks?
Does the increased roof strength come from having a roof rack option or the "sportsman" fishing pole package thing?

I run a prinsu on my Rebel Sportsman. I utilize the Yakima tracks that were installed by Snugtop in their factory. The strength of the topper comes from the Sportsman package (by strengthening the topper itself, I assume by more layers of fiberglass), not merely b/c a roof rack option was added...they are two different things.
