Well, I am thinking if tampering with a safety device such as air bags, seat belts, etc. Something that no one cared about before now, are now against the law. So if the "newer" safety devices are disabled, the judge might see it as more your fault then 50/50 fault. Just a thought.

People keep saying the liability factor about the BSM in the bumpers that manufacturers are considering and not making a hole for the sensor, why not this liability.

Hey, if someone sues for hot coffee....

Whether I swerve into someone with or without BSM its still my fault. How does disabling remove fault?

It does tell you when it is clear. When it is off, it is clear. That is common knowledge..

    Straight from the Owner’s Manual:

    ■ Cautions regarding the use of the system
The driver is solely responsible for safe driving. Always drive safely, taking
    care to observe your surroundings.
The Blind Spot Monitor function is a supplementary function which alerts the driver that a vehicle is present in the blind spot. Do not overly rely on the Blind Spot Monitor function. The function cannot judge if it is safe to change lanes, therefore over reliance could cause an accident resulting in death or serious injury.
According to conditions, the system may not function correctly. Therefore the driver’s own visual confirmation of safety is necessary.

Where can I find these instructions? I have been wanting to work on a way to keep these with a HC bumper and this will be super helpful.

After 2 years of driving the truck, I forgot that it has BSM.
But my wife loves them on her RAV4.
