    Ah okay so it’s the bolts then. He was making it seem like I would need to get a whole new LCA for each side if it was ceased. I’d be fine with just buying cam bolts and bushings for the ones that are ceased then?

    Hopefully they can get it close enough to spec that I won’t have to do it straight away...

    without having pulled it apart, my understanding is the bolts seize to the bushing sleeve since Toyota didn't grease them on assembly. the guys who have had them apart can advise you better on that.

    sounds like most shops will say you need new LCAs cause the bushings are a pain to replace. i am gonna do it myself.

    Thanks for the reply, extremely helpful! I’ve seen the stock Toyota jack used to push out bushings from the LCA. Not sure how they’d be pressed in though, maybe a makeshift press using the jack and the frame of the truck maybe.

    I’ve just gotta look up part numbers now just in case, always a hassle haha.

    I worked out to be cheaper to buy new control arms for me. 124 a pop from rockauto. The amount of labor required for a bushing swap is retarded.

    If they are seized, you'll want to buy cam bolts and a replacement LCA(s). Cam bolts are effectively OEM-only items (Moog/SPC cam bolts are poorly designed and round off easily). You might end up spending more on cam bolts than on the LCA.
    Usually people try to press out the bushings with a vise and sockets. Usually that doesn't work and they end up torching the rubber, cutting the leftover sleeve with a dremel, etc. too much work. And you'd still be spending 50%+ of the money on cam bolts...

    I read a few sources saying that the cam bolts can be cleaned up and re used if you are able to press them out of the bushing... probably easier to just buy new...

    OEM cam bolts are $950.....As mentioned aftermarket sources aren't the greatest, but a whole new arm is better as it comes with everything.

    I went the OEM cam bolt method thinking the "expensive bolts" were maybe $200 a side. I was wrong....Anyways just saying $950 for OEM bolts.

    The issue is the bolts become so seized that you won't get them out. At least in our neck of the woods. So when I had my cam tabs reinforced I needed new cams....My truck is a 2010 which is sprayed every year and still it was needed to get new ones.

    They're pricey as fuck

    @tacoma16 had to replace his cam bolts . Think they were around $1000.

    I'm really hoping I won't need new ones when my lca are changed

    Yeah the rabbit hole gets kinda crazy...

    @Joe23 tad late bud....haha

    check out a whole arm replacement if needed. For a 1st gen, just make sure your lower ball joint is good. Failure of those can have a domino affect on other parts. As long as you're getting good alignment numbers and your cam tabs aren't messed.
