Installed CB with the much appreciated assistance of @xtremewlr.

Initially tried an old antenna (Barain Brand??) I had but couldn’t get any reception. Switched to a brand new Wilson 3’ fiberglass antenna and still not able to get reception. Will try tuning with an SWR meter to dial it all in.

Friction fit with a couple zipties going around it to make sure it stays put.

Yep, we got it to fit close to flush by pushing the CB all the way through that center piece and heating up that vent tube to get the unit to slide all the way in.

Would it go back further than where you have it in the pic or is that about it??

There are worse problems to have than being employed, lol.

    Really digging the build.

Totally agree. Not a bad problem to have. But ‘I know a guy’ between jobs that has gotten so much done on his truck that it’s easy to get envious of the truck time I don’t have. You know, grass is always greener yada yada.

Thanks for checking out my build. I appreciate it.

I believe it could go further back yet. I was heating the tube and pushing on it in various spots with the handle end of a long screw driver. If I was dead set on it being flush with the trim piece I could have worked on it longer but where it ended up leaves plenty of room for the shifter and access to the controls even in Park. The picture is a little bit deceiving. When you see it in person you’ll see it is pretty close to flush.

Yeah, from the top view like in the pic, it doesn't look all that flush but from the side, it's flush with the bezel at the top and almost the same as the stereo above it. Using a 90 degree coax adapter to attach the antenna cable helps get it further back too.

I'm a federal employee, and in the last month I got a LOT more done on my front bumper/skids than I would have otherwise.

Now it's back to sitting on my garage floor for weeks at a time and hoping it doesn't rain on the weekend so I can get some more work done.

Finally got around to the rear axle breather extension mod.

    2/17/2019
Found it easier to pull the plate from around the filler neck for locating the breather and drilling the hole. I started with a 1/8” bit to locate the hole and then used a step bit to get the exact size hole for a super snug fit.
    7D04E722-F216-47F7-9C13-BF4DA8C7A4C6.jpg
With the hole drilled in that spot I had to clearance the back side to get the hose to sit flush. The darker area of plastic is where I hit it with the Dremel tool.

Left almost a full loop of hose to be used during suspension cycling.

Dressed up my new breather with a little bit of red paint. Check out my AZ pinstripes.

Had a super successful evening at Zane’s house. @Speedytech7 thank you buddy! Great to meet you and thank you for all your help!

    2/18/2019

    1) checked my CB with the SWR meter. Tested good, did some real world testing driving around east Mesa. CBs are fun.. Can’t wait to use it on the freeway ...err I mean trails.

    2) installed my new Honda windshield washer nozzles finally. Tested them out and adjusted as needed. I stole a 4” piece of 1/4” drip tube from a near by tree to make the connection on the passenger side of the Y. Used Zane’s heat gun to soften it to slide over the barbed fitting. It was cold tonight(50ish*)

    3) fixed my power port issue. Turns out I never had the 15amp fuse in the fuse box under the hood. Easy fix by using one of the spare fuses already in the box.

You're welcome! I wondered what you were doing by the tree haha. I didn't even know it had a drip tube

We’d been planning this trip for a few months and had quite a bit of interest from local TW members. We planned late February with expectations of pleasant temperatures for camping. What happened was anything but expected, even though we picked the weekend months in advance, we ended up choosing the coldest days of the year and record snow levels as well. Not to be deterred we push on.

At one point, we had commitments from 11 trucks/drivers but due to weather the list was whittled down to 4.

    @xtremewlr @Phessor @Sapnjack and myself.
The trip turned out to be a great adventure and experience. Can’t wait to plan another like it.
