Yeah, it’s a fine line. The frame rub doesn’t really bother me, but yours would likely be worse with slightly more backspacing if you stay with those wheels and spacers.

When are you thinking about diving into 35s?

Nice! Your truck looks really good!

And you’re exactly right. I could probably go down to 2.00, but again, I don’t want any more poke. In fact, when it’s time for new tires, I’ll probably do what all the cool kids are doing and go to some 285/75R17s. Only half an inch shorter than my 315s and a bit narrower. Problem solved!

Doesn't look too bad at all. I'd have to get some really thick spacers though if I plan to keep my current wheels. I'm starting to think twice about this.

Best case scenario would be around April or May but I'm in no rush. The tires I currently have are just a year old and only have so many miles on them.

295/75-16 are slightly shorter and narrower than the 285/75-17 size...might be a better option for me (unless I want to spend money on another set of wheels with a lower offset/more BS). I had K02's in that size but I didn't like the not so aggressive tread pattern. Should probably have went with the 295 size in the current tire I have (Cooper STT Pros).

Yeah but I have had a friend put both on my tuck to test fit and you can definitely tell the difference from a mile away!, 35s is definitely a hassle but in the end you only have to do tubbing and stuff one time.

Got the driver side limit strap on and adjusted to stop about 3/8” before the coilover tops out. I ended up using some 1/4” plate to reinforce the clevis mount as well as get the clevis away from the frame a bit.

Once I get the passenger side done and get everything painted, I can reinstall the steering rack. It’s ready to go back in with new inners, outers, jam nuts and poly bushings.

Any issue fitting a CV between the strap and coilover? You'll probably have to pull one to get them in and out.

I'm already thinking about the jump to 37's. But that won't happen unless I 3-link or LT to get tundy cv's.

I’ll definitely need to pull one to pull the CV because it’s just barely too narrow to fit between the CO and the strap. One or two bolts and it’s out of the way, though, so that’s cool.

    :rofl::rofl::rofl:

37s would be cool, no doubt, but the only way I would consider doing it would be going SFA. Which just gets me thinking again about finding an 01-04 regular cab with the 4-banger, linking it, bobbing the bed, and slapping tons and 4Ds on there. That would be a badass purpose-built crawler, but it’ll likely never happen...

As for the 34s, I think they would just fit my style better, and reducing the poke a bit would be a good thing. But that’s quite a ways out and more money, so it’s nothing I need to worry about right now. And at least the truck will always be set up for 315s if I would ever want to jump back up.

Mine's like that too and it's a bit of a hassle. The issue is you can't pull the coilover with the strap in because it's compressed slightly, and you can't pull the strap unless you loosen it first.

Damn, I didn’t even think about that, but you’re exactly right.

So I guess the move is to just loosen the clevis and then remove the strap and clevis from the upper mount to pull the coilover? That isn’t terrible, but it’s a bit of a hassle like you said. I’d just have to remember to take a picture or measure the exposed threads on the clevis so that it ends up back where it was.

Anyway, thanks for the heads up! That’s another little wrinkle that I hadn’t really considered.

You could also pull the lower limit strap bolt before you jack it up, but that's not the easiest to do either.

True. I guess the strap would be unloaded at that point, but then you’ve got to get your hands into that space while the wheel and tire are still there. Sheesh.

Surely if you're removing a CV you're still on all 4 tires for the moment. You should be able to undo the lower bolt of the strap before you take anything else off. Since the coilover is holding the truck up still the strap should be loose.

Yes, but try pulling that bolt with everything in the way.

Can't you just crank it over hard one way and it'll be reachable from under the truck?

    Someday...

But not anytime soon and not this truck. Like I said earlier, I’d love to grab a regular cab Taco with a four banger and do tons, 40s, and an Atlas, but that is a long way off. I still have plenty of shit to do with this one as it is.

Anyway, how’s life, Marty? Do you ever sleep, or do you just work nonstop? :D

Got the passenger side limit strap mounts burned on tonight and got the first coat of paint down on both sides. I’m hoping to start putting shit back together again tomorrow, starting with the rack.

No pics because I was cold and ran out of fucks...
